I was sent a must read this morning written by Thomas Sowell, a senior fellow at the Hoover Institution at Stanford University. Rather than post bits and pieces here, jump over to his web site, it’s worth the read.

Earlier this week we reported that Michael Moore is threatening Blue Dog Democrats.

Moore: “To the Democrats in Congress who don’t quite get it: I want to offer a personal pledge. I – and a lot of other people – have every intention of removing you from Congress in the next election if you stand in the way of health care legislation that the people want. That is not a hollow or idle threat. We will come to your district and we will work against you, first in the primary and, if we have to, in the general election.”

Senate Finance Committee Democrats killed an amendment by Finance Committee ranking member Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) that would have required illegal aliens prove their identity with photo identification when signing up for federal healthcare programs.

Given the high number of false and/or stolen identities these people have access to what the hell were they thinking?

It appears Joe Wilson was right. Si?

In a roundtable with CNN’s Wolf Blitzer yesterday, Democratic freshman congressman Alan Grayson (D-FL) had another episode of diarrhea of the mouth.

Earlier this week on the house floor he accused republicans of wanting sick Americans to “die quickly.” He was quickly rebuked by Indiana 5th district congressman Dan Burton.

Sen. John Ensign (R-Nev.) received a handwritten note Thursday from Joint Committee on Taxation Chief of Staff Tom Barthold confirming the penalty for failing to pay the up to $1,900 fee for not buying health insurance.

Violators could be charged with a misdemeanor and could face up to a year in jail or a $25,000 penalty, Barthold wrote on JCT letterhead. He signed it “Sincerely, Thomas A. Barthold.”

To hell in a handbasket.

I wonder if Obamacare would cover this “penis” incident?

Today, CNN ran a story about how people die from not having health insurance. For starters, that’s usually a personal choice. Here in Indiana for example you have Hoosier Healthwise for kids, and the Healthy Indiana Plan (HIP) for adults. Both are very low cost subsidized plans. Participants in HIP pay between 2% and 5% of their gross family income. Most states have similar programs.

FWIW, the guy in the hat was calling Obama a liar.

One more thing. Remember earlier this week when Obama said his health care plan won’t cover illegal aliens?

Now he says:

“Even though I do not believe we can extend coverage to those who are here illegally, I also don’t simply believe we can simply ignore the fact that our immigration system is broken,” Mr. Obama said Wednesday evening in a speech to the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute. “That’s why I strongly support making sure folks who are here legally have access to affordable, quality health insurance under this plan, just like everybody else.

Mr. Obama added, “If anything, this debate underscores the necessity of passing comprehensive immigration reform and resolving the issue of 12 million undocumented people living and working in this country once and for all.”

Translation: he wants to give amnesty to the 12 million illegal aliens so they can not only get government provided healthcare, but also, so they can vote for him in 2012.

Heckling the President is Unacceptable

Last night as President Obama addressed a joint session of Congress on the need for health insurance reform, Republican Congressman Joe Wilson of South Carolina actually screamed out “you lie” on the House floor in front of the full Congress and the entire nation.

“It’s worth noting that a strong majority of Americans still favor a public insurance option of the sort I’ve proposed tonight. But its impact shouldn’t be exaggerated — by the left, the right, or the media. It is only one part of my plan, and shouldn’t be used as a handy excuse for the usual Washington ideological battles,” Obama said.

No, the majority doesn’t support a public option. What has this guy been reading?

Obama also said he backs health insurance mandates, saying Americans should be required to get health insurance just like they’re required to have auto insurance. Big flip-flop since he was opposed to this during presidential campaign last year.

At the healthcare rally I helped organize last month, one of the left-wing loons was carrying a sign that read, “healthcare is a civil right.”

There’s a major flaw in that thinking. Healthcare does not exist without the labor of others, and you have no “right” to the labor of others. Well, unless you believe in the Marxist Doctrine.

The proletariat class thinks otherwise.
