I just got out of bed at 3:30 this afternoon. I’ve basically been in bed since Saturday morning with yet another diverticulitis attack. There’s nothing that quite helps like 30+ hours of sleeping and sweating & sweating and sleeping. And I awoke to this news.

White House appears ready to drop ‘public option’

So it looks like the so-called white-haired political terrorists and mobs are getting their point across. Read on.

WASHINGTON – Bowing to Republican pressure, President Barack Obama’s administration signaled on Sunday it is ready to abandon the idea of giving Americans the option of government-run insurance as part of a new health care system.

Facing mounting opposition to the overhaul, administration officials left open the chance for a compromise with Republicans that would include health insurance cooperatives instead of a government-run plan. Such a concession probably would enrage Obama’s liberal supporters but could deliver a much-needed victory on a top domestic priority opposed by GOP lawmakers.

It’s going to be fun watching the outrage.

Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius said that government alternative to private health insurance is “not the essential element” of the administration’s health care overhaul. The White House would be open to co-ops, she said, a sign that Democrats want a compromise so they can declare a victory.

So, it’s not an essential element? What the hell has Obama, Pelosi and the rest of democrats been saying?

March 6th, 2009

“The thinking on the public option has been that it gives consumers more choices and it helps keep the private sector honest, because there’s some competition out there,” Obama said.

June 11th, 2009

Speaker Nancy Pelosi of California said Wednesday that she supported that goal. “A bill will not come out of the House without a public option,” she said Wednesday on MSNBC.

And only two days ago, nutcase Howard Dean had this to say.

PITTSBURGH PA – “The only health care reform worth doing is the public option. If you give away the public option you have no health care reform. It is a real choice for the American people,” Governor Howard Dean told over 1,500 bloggers, journalists and activists here at the National Netroots conference.

In the end, all this ever boiled down to is they need to be able to say, “they won.”

Meanwhile over at Huffington Post one person commented, “Democrats are really good at stabbing Democrats in the back…”

On top of that, one can only guess how many dems are calling the white house and telling them there’s no way they’re going to commit political suicide by voting for this pile-o-garbage.

Don’t you just love it?

The tragic shooting at the Holocaust Museum on Wednesday by 88 year-old white supremacist James Von Brunn, has captured media attention all over the globe. As always, you can count on both the leftwing kooks at MSNBC as well as the leftard bloggers to tie this person to the Republican party.

The always rabid folks over at Huffington Post blogged this entry at yesterday at 6:00 PM.

Among the myriad of disturbing qualities of James Von Brunn, the 88-year-old man who shot and killed a security officer inside the Holocaust Museum on Wednesday, is his apparent belief that Barack Obama is not a citizen of the United States and therefore has no right to the presidency.

[...]

Indeed a “birther” mindset is more a symptom of extremism than a cause.

That said, the extent to which the birther ethos has been driven into the political narrative by legitimate figures, and subsequently picked up by extremist elements, is noteworthy. In an obvious reference to questions about Obama’s birthplace, Rep. Bill Posey, R-FL, has introduced a bill in the House requiring presidential candidates to file a copy of their birth certificates. Rep. Bob Goodlatte, R-V.A, has joined him as a co-sponsor of that measure.

Then Alan Colmes, who runs the blog Liberaland at Alan.com seems to have used HuffPo’s blog entry <del>as show prep</del> plagiarized their post. He posted the following at 8:16 PM yesterday.

As such, he was also part of the birther movement claiming there is no valid birth certificate for President Obama. The sad part about this is that we have elected officials trying to give this craziness credibility. Congressman Bill Posey of Florida introduced a bill that would require presidential candidates to file copies of birth certificates, and Rep. Bob Goodlatte of Virginia is a co-sponsor. Interesting company they keep

Colmes and HuffPo persecute two Republican congressman via an association that never existed. Amazing. HuffPo then associates Fox News’ reporting with inciting the violence.

Outside political circles, but still within the national spotlight, the view is much more widely articulated. As late as two weeks ago, for instance, Fox News was running a headline on its website, asking: “Should Obama Release Birth Certificate? Or Is This Old News?” On Wednesday morning, moreover, talk show host Rush Limbaugh sardonically compared President Obama to God, noting that, “God does not have a birth certificate either.”

Remarks like these aren’t inherently violent. They can be picked up, however, by individuals who are.

Back in April, CNN’s Rick Sanchez blamed Fox News, Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh and conservatives in general for gun violence and murders in America. Now they’re blaming conservatives for the actions of white supremacists. What next? I suppose they’ll blame conservatives for Obama’s failures.

Johann Hari over the the ultra-liberal Huffington Post certainly doesn’t lay low when it comes to his biased opinions masquerading as objective fact. Anytime we bring out the guns you can count on the left wing to try rewrite history as it happens. Earlier this year he wrote this:

You Are Being Lied to About Pirates

Who imagined that in 2009, the world’s governments would be declaring a new War on Pirates? As you read this, the British Royal Navy – backed by the ships of more than two dozen nations, from the US to China – is sailing into Somalian waters..

He claims that ever since the fall of the Somali government, mysterious European ships have been dumping nuclear waste off the Somali coast. He also said, ” after the 2005 tsunami, hundreds of the dumped and leaking barrels washed up on shore.” Had he checked, the waste was dumped in the war-racked country during the early 1990s, not at sea. Further, this was done under contract with Somalia. These contracts were signed by representatives of the then Somali President, Ali Mahdi Mohamed.

In writing about pirates, Hari begins to wax eloquent.

Pirates were the first people to rebel against this world. They mutinied against their tyrannical captains – and created a different way of working on the seas. Once they had a ship, the pirates elected their captains, and made all their decisions collectively. They shared their bounty out in what Rediker calls “one of the most egalitarian plans for the disposition of resources to be found anywhere in the eighteenth century.” They even took in escaped African slaves and lived with them as equals. The pirates showed “quite clearly – and subversively – that ships did not have to be run in the brutal and oppressive ways of the merchant service and the Royal navy.” This is why they were popular, despite being unproductive thieves.

He states that foreign countries have moved in and destroyed their fishing. According to Hari, there’s over 2000 miles of coastline. It would take a hell of a lot of “illegal trawlers” to cover that territory, but the fact is yes, foreign countries have moved in to take fish illegally.

But his really outrageous claim is the following:

Did we expect starving Somalians to stand passively on their beaches, paddling in our nuclear waste, and watch us snatch their fish to eat in restaurants in London and Paris and Rome? We didn’t act on those crimes – but when some of the fishermen responded by disrupting the transit-corridor for 20 percent of the world’s oil supply, we begin to shriek about “evil.” If we really want to deal with piracy, we need to stop its root cause – our crimes – before we send in the gun-boats to root out Somalia’s criminals.

Hmmm… paddling in nuclear waste AND fishing. And who is us? Apparently the Brits and the Italians.

The Somali pirates have now taken a U.S. citizen hostage. When you do that, America doesn’t generally sit on its ass and start singing Kumbaya hoping for a mystic intervention. They not only disrupted the transit corridor, they’ve kidnapped mariners, committed piracy on the high seas and have stolen untold millions of dollars from the ship’s owners. These aren’t fisherman, they’re f**king criminals.

You can always count on the liberals to redirect the blame for someone else’s transgressions.

AWB
