Here’s how CNN spins Obama’s lies. Yes, he’s a liar.

For years, Paul Hannum didn’t have health insurance while he worked as a freelance cameraman in southern California.

One Sunday, Hannum complained of a stomachache which alarmed his pregnant fiancée, Sarah Percy. “He wasn’t a complainer,” she said. “He’s the type of guy who, if he got a cold, he’ll power through it. I never had known him to complain about anything.”

Hannum thought he had a stomach flu or food poisoning from bad chicken. On Monday, his brother saw him looking ashen and urged him to go to the hospital. “He had a little girl on the way,” his older brother Curtis Hannum said. “He didn’t want the added burden of an ER visit to hang on their finances. He thought ‘I’ll just wait,’ and he got worse and worse.”

By the time Hannum got to the hospital and was admitted to surgery, it was too late.

Liars!

He had appendicitis and it killed him. My prayers go out to his fiancée and daughter. I did the same thing a few years ago thinking I had food poisoning, and they said had I waited much longer, I would have been dead.

But there’s more. Paul was not in control over the ultimate decision that killed him, and CNN conveniently left that out. Below is from a blog ran by Kristen Marie Hannum, his sister.

Tuesday at dawn, he and Sarah finally went in to the nearby UCLA Santa Monica Medical Center. Classic appendicitis. But when they gave him a CAT-scan the doctor decided that maybe it was diverticulitis. So even though he’d been vomiting for two days, they sent him home with antibiotics he couldn’t keep down and advice to follow up at the county hospital, in a far-away and unfamiliar part of town.

Standard procedure, we’ve been told, would have been to admit Paul, since diverticulitis and appendicitis are so easily misdiagnosed for one another, and because that mistake can be deadly.

Sarah brought Paul back to the Santa Monica medical center Tuesday night. They gave him another CAT-scan and talked some more about transferring him to county. They didn’t, however, compare the two cat scans, which showed a dramatic and frightening disintegration of Paul’s condition.

Paul finally went into surgery Wednesday morning. His ruptured appendix was the worst the surgeon had ever seen.

Paul died at age 45 a little after midnight, August 3, 2006.

From what I’ve read about Paul, he was a nice guy. He made sure his pregnant fiancée and their baby were covered. Given his successful career, I really don’t understand why he wasn’t covered.

If CNN wants to play the “I can’t afford insurance” card and it killed me, they picked the wrong person. He was sent home. Had they operated immediately, he’d most likely be alive now.

Those in the poker community who may be unfamiliar with the name Paul Hannum have most likely been exposed to his work. Hannum was the gregarious and ever-accommodating man behind the lens of the World Poker Tour. As the cameraman and official photographer since its inception, he played an important role in bringing the WPT into millions of homes over cable television’s The Travel Channel. In Hollywood, Hannum was popular among independent film makers as an aspiring producer, short filmmaker and writer.

Born in Denver in 1961, Paul attended Thomas Jefferson High School before attending the University of Colorado, from which he graduated in 1983. He and his brother, Curtis, moved to Los Angeles in 1990, where Paul performed comedy and appeared as an actor in movies such as “On the Edge” and “Jerry Maguire.” They traveled the world, while collaborating on several short films, and in 2005, “The Real Old Testament,” a spoof of MTV’s “The Real World” set in biblical times, won the audience award for best feature at the Boulder International Film Festival. In addition to coproducing and codirecting the film, Paul played “Snake” alongside his brother’s God character.

CNN also flat-out lied about the story, twisting it to Obama’s benefit.

Dr. Tom Hayhurst former and future candidate for Congress, 3rd District

“I like the president’s emphasis on the character of our country. I went to medical school because I wanted to take care of people when they get sick. We have millions of people going bankrupt, and the death rate from breast cancer is greater if people don’t have health insurance. We need to somehow make sure all people have health care. The president laid out his plan. In many ways it was rational. He said he was willing to talk to legislators on both sides of the aisle. That’s very good. I hope they take that to heart and don’t keep saying no to any plan that may come along.”

Hayhurst, who unsuccessfully ran against Republican Mark Souder to represent the state’s 3rd District in Congress, said he was spread thin during the campaign and wasn’t able to spend the time with his grandchildren he wanted. Hayhurst, a retired pulmonologist, plans to continue to volunteer at two free health clinics and is looking into the possibility of spending time as a physician overseas.

Retired Doctor Tom Hayhurst toils 8 hours a month volunteering at the Tuberculosis Clinic. His reward? $1325 per month according to the Allen County Auditor’s Office Vendor Payment Listing from the News Sentinel’s 10/16/2006 edition.

Sorry Doc, that’s not volunteering, that’s government subsidized healthcare. Maybe you should have went to China with Henry, and stayed.

Heckling the President is Unacceptable

Last night as President Obama addressed a joint session of Congress on the need for health insurance reform, Republican Congressman Joe Wilson of South Carolina actually screamed out “you lie” on the House floor in front of the full Congress and the entire nation.

Calling the President of the United States a liar in front of the nation is a new low even for House Republicans and it deserves the strongest response we can give. That’s why we’re issuing a special Rapid Response Alert.

Help us raise $100,000 in the next 48 Hours to send a message to Republicans like Congressman Joe Wilson that we will not stand for our President to be called a liar in front of the nation.

I agree, it’s not acceptable. However the liberals easily seem to forget ignore history.

- Obama called former President Bill Clinton a bald-faced liar during the 2008 presidential race.
- Harry M. Reid of Nevada, called President Bush a “loser” in 2005

It looks like Obama hit the “new low” first.

But let’s look at the facts. It appears Wilson was right.

“Under H.R. 3200, a ‘Health Insurance Exchange’ would begin operation in 2013 and would offer private plans alongside a public option…H.R. 3200 does not contain any restrictions on noncitzens—whether legally or illegally present, or in the United States temporarily or permanently—participating in the Exchange.”

It should also be noted that House Democrats killed any attempts in committee to add an enforcement that would require proof of citizenship or legal residency for those getting healthcare subsidies.

No, the majority doesn’t support a public option. What has this guy been reading?

Obama also said he backs health insurance mandates, saying Americans should be required to get health insurance just like they’re required to have auto insurance. Big flip-flop since he was opposed to this during presidential campaign last year.

57 Liberal Democrats to vote no on a bill without a strong public option

On July 31, 2009, the Congressional Progressive Caucus sent a letter to Speaker Pelosi expressing their opposition to a weakening of the public option. The letter on behalf of 57 Progressive Democrats concludes, “In short, this agreement will result in the public, both as insurance purchasers and as taxpayers, paying ever higher rates to insurance companies. There’s a major flaw in that thinking. Healthcare does not exist without the labor of others, and you have no “right” to the labor of others. Well, unless you believe in the Marxist Doctrine.

The proletariat class thinks otherwise.

They think that somehow, the bourgeoisie class owes them something. They don’t, but facts being what they are, that’s the hard truth. The amazing thing is they’re being led by people in congress that don’t know what it’s like to gruel away 40, 50, maybe even 70 hours a week to make ends meet. They have them convinced that healthcare is “their right.”

Later today, Obama is going to take the stage before a joint session of congress and tell them once again how they need to lift up thy neighbor and pass Obamacare. Personally, I don’t think it has a snowball’s chance in hell.

Obama has never offered up a plan of his own. There are so many plans moving through committee I’ve lost track. One of the latest is from Democratic Senator Max Baucus, and it contains provisions to fine families upwards of $3800 for failing to buy health insurance.

Tonight, Obama will parade a pig in lipstick, (public option) and call it a healthcare plan for the uninsured, the proletariat class, the children, etc.

I’m giving odds that Obama fails the same way Clinton did in his “Hillary Care” reform speech before congress in 1993.

One can only hope.

Tonight, Pres. Obama is giving a speech on healthcare reform to a joint session of Congress. Undoubtedly, it will be “historic,” at least to the nighttime staff at MSNBC. It probably is the first time that a president has delivered a major speech to children two days in a row.

Baucus Plan Allows for Fines Up to $3,800 for Failing to Get Health Insurance

The plan from Democratic Sen. Max Baucus of Montana would make health insurance mandatory, just like auto coverage.

Those who still don’t sign up would face hefty fines, starting at $750 a year for individuals and $1,500 for families — for those making up to three times the poverty level.

For those who make more than that, the penalty on individuals would jump to $950 and the penalty on families would jump to $3,800.

There would be a few exemptions, including for Native Americans and for those making incomes below the federal poverty level.

For a community to be named an All-America City, it must be able to demonstrate successful resolution of community issues through collaborative effort. Or take the Wayne Township office and the infighting there not to mention the investigation by the Local Government Efficiency Study Committee.

Clear demonstration of project results and impacts (dollars raised or lives impacted); Projects which have impacted the community significantly within the last three years, and have potential to continue improving the quality of life; and at least one project should document ways in which the lives of children and youth have been tangibly improved.

I guess that means they can’t talk about The Harrison, or Renaissance Pointe or the Public Safety Academy, to name a few.

Deputy Mayor Greg Purcell will be part of the group, as will Larry Wardlaw, vice president of Asher Agency Inc., a marketing firm in Fort Wayne.

Oh that’s nice, send someone from the Asher Agency. If you recall, Asher sold or gave a list that had been given to Asher for the purpose of a certain republican candidate’s political campaign to Fort Wayne Community School’s Yellow Ribbon petition group. That violated confidentiality standards that clients expect to receive when dealing with sensitive personal data.

On top of that, Asher was paid $15,000 for a new logo for Fort Wayne Community Schools, (paid for by you) that was nothing more than a knockoff of their own logo. A 10 year-old could have done that, (image courtesy of Fetchy). Maybe Wardlaw/Asher could donate the $15k towards the trip?

Although the city has been preparing for the competition since August 2008, Wardlaw said he was only recently called in to help “jazz up the show.” For the next few weeks, he will coach delegation members and act as emcee for the group’s presentation, he said.

At what price? Asher’s the most inept expensive agency in town.

The All American City Award is old and tired. Nearly every large and mid-sized city has won the award at least once, and personally, I just don’t see the value. Take the $25K and feed some people.
