Joining the show tonight is Democratic candidate for Indiana’s 3rd Congressional District, Dr. Tom Hayhurst; Bob Wieneke, Notre Dame beat writer from the South Bend Tribune, will give us a preview of the upcoming Irish-Boiler match-up in South bend this weekend; and Ian Hulette, beat reporter for Purdue football at The Gary Snyder Show, will break down the game from the Boiler Nation perspective. Is Shooters Bar And Grill in Waynedale racist?

There’s a fairly new place in Waynedale called Shooters Bar And Grill. A friend of mine recently went there, and here’s how it went.

Shooters in Waynedale! This was the place that we went to a few weeks ago and the guy at the door told us to come in, invite your friends, unless they are “COLOREDS” “We need to keep them coloreds out” Yes, that is exactly what the guy said.

I don’t know who the guy working the door was, or, if his racist remarks were condoned by the owners.

They won’t be seeing me in there.

Raid on Slavey home in Warsaw result of child pornography

Last week we reported about an FBI raid at the home of Jason Slavey. We also reported he had a previous conviction for child molesting and that computers were taken from the home.

The FBI arrested Slavey as a result of finding child pornography on the computers, and is being charged with possession and distribution of child pornography.

It has come to my attention that Republican candidate for Huntington County Sheriff, Terry Stoffel, has declined an invitation from the Huntington TEA Party to participate in a debate at the Huntington North High School Auditorium on October 23rd or any day for that matter. Independent candidate for Huntington County Sheriff Steve Ochs did accept the TEA Party’s offer to go before the public and answer serious questions about serious issues confronting Huntington County and the Sheriff’s Department.

Why does Terry not want to go before the residents of Huntington and have an honest, open debate with “The Major” and have a more informed electorate? Maybe that is exactly why he doesn’t want to debate, a more informed voter?

Get on your bike and ride

Recently, I decided to start burning some fat off by riding my bike. I got a slow start last week, but now I’m really getting into it.

My bike is a 2000 Schwinn Sierra GS. I’ve been doing a lot of hill climbing, so I’m thankful for the super-low 1st gear on the rear cog, which makes climbing those hills a bit easier. The tires are a bit fat, 26″ with an off-road tread design, so I get more resistance than the speedy Gonzales on their high speed road bikes.

Riding the Aboite Trails is a wonderful experience, and I was really surprised at the amount of use it receives. Today I passed maybe 9-10 people, some of the twice.

This morning was the longest ride so far this week, and I really pushed myself. 12.62 miles, average speed 18.36 – calories burned 739. Total so far this week. 32.77 miles, 2188 calories melted away.

Yeah, I’m bragging a little but this is making me feel physically great.

Jim is the Republican candidate for the Indiana Senate District 17 seat and since he is running unopposed, we’ll just call him Senator Banks. Pillie & Olinger join The Gary Snyder Show Monday on FM 100.1 Talks

Derek Pillie, former District Director for Congressman Mark Souder turned Republican candidate for Indiana State Representative District 84 will join us Monday on The Gary Snyder Show on FM 100.1 Talks from 6 to 7 p.m., as he gears up for the Republican Caucus to be held July 31st.

That will be followed up with an interview with former Fort Wayne Community School board member Jon Olinger, who is also running for the 84th seat.

The caucus will be held to pick a replacement for State Representative Randy Borrer who recently resigned to become a lobbyist. We’ll also have either Justin Cohn from the Journal Gazette and We’ve Got Game fame or Estel Walker from The Estel Walker Show (which ever one loses the best of three rock-paper-scissors contest) in house for the hour.
