Getting Shot At From All Directions
Winston Churchill once said, “There is nothing more exhilarating than to be shot at without result.”Well, it has felt as though AFA of Indiana has been shot at from all directions over the last week. It hasn’t always been exhilarating. At times, intense has been the adjective that could more aptly apply. Read the rest of this entry »

Outspoken Leader Gives Critique of Conservative Coalition
I tried to avoid politics, news, talk radio and e-mail (of which I had over 1,100 waiting for me upon return) while on vacation. However, I did notice an item that I thought would be worth passing along in lieu of our regular AFA-IN weekly update today. I have known Robert Knight for nearly twenty years going back to his days with the Family Research Council and Concerned Women for America. Bob is a bold voice that is never afraid to take a stand, regardless of the cultural popularity of his views. He has been helpful to me as a policy resource in many battles over the years. Bob has an interesting assessment of a part of today’s conservative political movement, which makes some thought-provoking points far better than I could. This item appeared a few days ago as a guest editorial in the Washington Times.
(By the way, there is a very interesting video clip promo at the web site for Robert Knight’s new book and Coral Ridge Ministries video, 10 Truths About Socialism at the end of Bob’s article.)

Hypocrisy On Display . . . But How Many Will Notice?
The Indiana Senate has repeatedly tried to allow the citizens of Indiana to decide if they want to prevent Indiana courts from radically defining down marriage to allow for same-sex marriage, polygamy or any other configuration in the future. Each time the Senate acted, Indiana House Speaker Patrick Bauer and other Democrat leaders blocked the amendment even though it would pass with 65% of the members support had a floor vote been allowed.

New York University Study Won’t Go Over Well with the Far Left
Yesterday, Dr. Patrick Egan with the Department of Politics at New York University released a study covering a decade of research on political polling on homosexual marriage efforts. A scientific look at 33 state ballot initiatives since 1998 reveals that the homosexual demands groups are not making any headway convincing Americans that two men equal a mom and a dad.

Indiana Primary Election Brings Many Surprises and Positive Outcomes
Well, its finally over. Now, the morning after, the Indiana political pundits can review and explain the views of Hoosier voters and to comment on the strategies of the various campaigns. This is my quick take on last night.
There will be some new faces in the Indiana General Assembly next year, which is always AFA of Indiana’s primary focus. Here are a few of the race outcomes that we were closely watching last night and will be monitoring in November. Read the rest of this entry »

AFA-IN Political Mishmash
1) Senate Candidate Clarifies His Position on Gays in the Military for AFA-IN
I received a note from the Richard Behney for US Senate Campaign a couple of days ago in response to my request for clarification about Richard’s view of the President’s desire to repeal “don’t ask, don’t tell” to allow open homosexuality in the military. As I pledged, I am passing his statement on to you for your consideration. I very much appreciate Mr. Behney addressing this for us after there appeared to be some confusion over a recent answer he gave at an Indianapolis debate.

More States Challenging Health Care Mandate, But Some Opposition Emerges
As I reported in the AFAIN e-mail last week, Indiana Attorney General Greg Zoeller became the 14th State AG to join others challenging the mandates and state sovereignty questions surrounding Obamacare.

This is What Change Looks Like
It is hard to encapsulate what has happened to our nation in the last few days with the passage and signing of the massive health care reform legislation. At a time when America is literally bankrupt and on the verge of losing its triple AAA bond status, with high unemployment and no end to it in sight, the US Congress passed the largest entitlement bill ever seen in most of our lifetimes. The unfunded mandate for states like Indiana is enormous and potentially devastating over time as the program, like all government entitlements before it, grows far beyond the projected expense numbers.

Voices from the Statehouse Urge Congress to “Kill the Bill”
On Monday afternoon, I was privileged to be a part of the Indianapolis TEA Party “Kill the Bill” rally on the South steps of the State Capitol. It is hard to guess the size of the crowd, but half of the lawn was filled by the time Congressman Mike Pence gave a stirring speech calling on Hoosiers to continue to stand up against Obamacare. There were easily 1,000 people standing in the cold drizzle to show their concern about the massive health care legislation that some want to ram through Congress this week.

he Fort Wayne City Council officially rejected a proposed ordinance last night which would have granted special behavior-based protections to people with gender identity disorders. The ordinance was a defeat for cross dressers, homosexuals and transgender activists seeking governmental endorsement of their chosen identity and actions.

By Micah Clark – American Family Association of Indiana
Of all the times in which one might think that Republicans might actually start to “get it” and see that Hoosiers are fed up with liberalism and political parties that mirror each other, this might be that year. Yet, in spite of political earthquakes in Massachusetts and now one here in Indiana this week, the Indianapolis Republican party leadership seems to be living on another planet right now.
