Hoosiers for Conservative Senate (HFCS) will bring a complaint to the office of Governor Mitch Daniels on Thursday February 16th regarding the residency of Indiana Senator Dick Lugar. A press conference will be held in the North Atrium at 3:00pm. Following the press conference, the signatures will be walked over to the Governor’s office. HFCS will also deliver a complaint to the Marion County Election Board and the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office.

HFCS will deliver signed forms from each Congressional district requesting Governor Daniels to take action on a formal election complaint filed by Greg Wright, a Certified Fraud Examiner from Indianapolis. Pursuant to Indiana Code 3-6-4.1-12., the statute provides that citizens from each of Indiana’s nine congressional districts may petition the Governor to call a meeting of the Indiana Election Commission, if the commission refuses to meet to perform its duties. One of the statutory duties of the commission is to investigate violations of the election code and refer potential violations to the prosecuting attorney.

Mr. Wright’s complaint to the Indiana Election Commission is based on the fact that Senator Lugar and his wife have been voting absentee from 3200 Highwoods Court in Indianapolis, despite the fact that they sold the property in 1977. This complaint was filed on November 30th. No action has been taken by the election commission. Hmmm.

Monica Boyer, co-founder of Hoosiers for Conservative senate stated “We are deeply concerned that this complaint is not receiving its due process, and we are asking that the Governor hold the appropriate hearing concerning Senator Richard Lugar using a false address to register to vote. In the wake of the Charlie White case, we must ensure that Indiana does not maintain a double standard and that all public officials are held to the same standards.”

Dumezich has a conflict of interest as Chairman of the election commission. He and his wife Dana have given over $24,000 Senator Lugar Since 2000. HFCS is only asking that complaint receive a fair hearing, yet Dumezich has allowed it to languish on his desk for over 12 weeks.

Dumezich is also involved in another controversy concerning Rick Santorum’s presidential bid, and his efforts to be on the May 8 Republican primary ballot.  Eight Indiana residents, (all Ron Paul supporters), have filed challenges with the Indiana Election Commission to keep Rick Santorum off the state’s May 8 Republican primary ballot, due to his falling short 8 signatures in Marion County. Santorum’s campaign claims it submitted more signatures than it needed, but election officials ruled that he only collected 492 valid signatures from the Seventh Congressional District, an area including most of Marion County and the city of Indianapolis.

It’s to go before the election commission, and a hearing is tentatively scheduled for next week. The challenges were filed this week. There’s certainly a question in a lot of people’s minds as to why Dumezich is moving this to a priority status and sitting on the Lugar complaint.

Dumezich, an attorney, (and lobbyist) is not only the chairman of the Indiana Election Commission, he’s also the co-chairman of Mr. Romney’s Indiana campaign, and clearly, this is yet another conflict of interest and he should recuse himself. Dumezich said in a recent interview that he saw no reason to recuse himself. “I’m not conflicted” Dumezich said.

Really?

conflict of interest n. a situation in which a person has a duty to more than one person or organization, but cannot do justice to the actual or potentially adverse interests of both parties. This includes when an individual’s personal interests or concerns are inconsistent with the best for a customer, or when a public official’s personal interests are contrary to his/her loyalty to public business. An attorney, an accountant, a business adviser or realtor cannot represent two parties in a dispute and must avoid even the appearance of conflict. He/she may not join with a client in business without making full disclosure of his/her potential conflicts, he/she must avoid commingling funds with the client, and never, never take a position adverse to the customer.

You have to be elected to be protected by the law.Wasn't White just running for office then? And thus did not come under the protection of the law.

I like our gov but this and his support of the smoking ban make me wonder about his being a Conservative. I hope this is not part of a sign that the good ole boys network is alive and well in our state.

so they say that the law doesn't demand that Lugar has to be in IN….that's to be debated, BUT, he's using this address for voting, driver's license, traffic violations and also vehicle registrations….NOW, that is fraud. both him and his wife are GUILTY.

Cut and Paste .The tea partiers delivered petitions to the governor's office asking that he convene the Election Commission to hear their charges. The receptionist accepted the signatures, but Daniels has already said that he won't convene the group in the Lugar situation because three attorneys general have ruled that Lugar is within the law. Do you think it is time to focus on Lugars voting record that clearly makes him a RINO.
If not it's time to get outthe tin foil caps.
