There are quite a few facts that are disturbing about all of this. For starters, why would Aliahna’s mother leave her chilrden, ages 6 and 9 with Michael Plumadore for nearly a week?

Michael Plumadore: Photo from his MySpace page, click image go there.

Let me preface my comments by saying I’m not accusing him of any crime. However, this guy is not someone any parent should leave her children with. For starters, he lived with the children’s grandfather, James Lemmon, a convicted child molester who died on December 3rd of this year.

Local media reports 15 registered sex offenders at the park. Four weeks ago I guess that number was 16. One has to wonder how Plumadore and Lemmon hooked up. The trailer where Plumadore lives was purportedly owned by Lemmon. A month after his death, Plumadore still lives there.

Some facts about Plumadore. An arrest warrant was issued in Allen County 04/27/2007 for forgery and auto theft. The facts seem to indicate Plumadore fled Indiana for his home state of North Carolina. He was apprehended in 12/27/2007 in North Carolina.

From Watauga County North Carolina, December 27th, 2007.

Michael Len Plumadore, 35, of 302 West King St., Boone, was served with a warrant for arrest as a fugitive from justice. He was placed in the Watauga County Detention Center and is scheduled to appear in district court on Jan. 22 in lieu of a $10,000 secured bond.

And the following month here in Allen County, (January 2008).

Michael Plumadore, 35, of the 400 block of West Washington Boulevard, was booked into the lockup at 3:35 a.m. Jan. 4 on charges of forgery and auto theft. He was being held without bail.

Upon his return to Allen County he was deemed a flight risk, and a $25,000 bond was ordered. The case went to trial in April.

04/21/2008 Converted Event (Judicial Officer: Surbeck, John F, Jr. )
AGAINST: PLUMADORE MICHAEL L
PREVAIL: STATE OF INDIANA
COUNT 01: DEFENDANT SENTENCED TO THE INDIANA DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTION FOR A PERIOD OF 3 YEARS; 1 YEAR SUSPENDED. PROBATION 1 YEAR. DEFENDANT ASSESSED COURT COSTS. DEFENDANT IS GRANTED CREDIT FOR 127 DAYS SERVED IN JAIL.

He also had a battery charge against him. I could not find details on that case.

The Journal Gazette has this:

Plumadore, 39, told The Journal Gazette on Sunday that he left the three girls in his mobile home about 6 a.m. Friday and went to a gas station about a mile away to buy a cigar. Authorities have said the store’s surveillance video shows him there about that time.

“I had deadbolted the door,” he said. “When I got back, all the girls was here.”

Who in their right mind would leave three small girls alone, in a mobile home? And, on top of that one that is located in a mobile home park that has 15 registered sex offenders living in it?

He said he smoked his cigar and went back to sleep about 6:30 a.m. He woke up about 10 a.m. when Aliahna’s mother called. After that call, he realized the door to the home was unlocked and that Aliahna was gone. He said Aliahna’s sisters, both 6 years old, told him that Aliahna had left with her mom.

Also, who goes out at 6 a.m. to get a cigar, comes back and smokes it and then goes back to sleep? Seems very odd to me. Then again, that got him in front of a surveillance camera, and then he claims he then slept from 6:30 until 1:30 p.m.

Plumadore believed them, so he locked the door and went back to sleep until about 1:30 p.m. He said that when he woke up, he and the two other girls went about their day until about 8:30 p.m. That’s when he talked to Aliahna’s mom and learned that Aliahna was not with her, and authorities were notified.

Having raised 4 children, there is no way I would have just gone back to sleep. I would have confirmed the whereabouts of a 9 year-old child who had vision and hearing problems and suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder and attention-deficit hyperactive disorder.

His Facebook profile lists him as self-employed. Makes me wonder, why so tired that you needed to sleep more than half the day away? Maybe he works nights? If so, who was watching the kids all week if he did in fact work nights?

The 39 year-old Plumadore has over 600 friends on Facebook, and seems obsessed with having young girls for Facebook friends, with over 90% of them girls, and many of them young girls. Some of them are still in high school. Examples are here, herehere, here, and here. He also seems to be obsessed with fake Facebook profiles. He has over 100 friends with the word “fake” for “fake busters” in their profile name, as seen here, here, and here. Well over 75 of his Facebook friends have profile pictures like those seen here, here, here, here, here, and here.

I’m not by any stretch jumping to conclusions or trying to imply anything. I’m just pointing out some facts.

This isn't something you would find any reporter at ANY of the Fort Wayne mainstream media breaking a sweat to do. Good job.

  2. nika says:

that is interesting!! & paints a good character portrait of the guy they were staying with.

but this also seems like run of the mill sleazy behavior, for a lonely young dude, in these facebook days. It doesn't necessarily say murderer to me.

I especially think a guy with some criminal past/ a lil savvy about the cops, is gonna be smarter — than to do a murder when the girl is known to be in his trailer. it would make him suspect #1.

I just keep thinking how the sisters said the girl went with their mother, – a person with an "alibi" and a dire financial motive.

of course she also had the greater motive to protect her own child – so I don't know.

  3. jim mccoy says:

Great reporting job. Fort Wayne's lame stream media will never go to this length to get information

Bravo@ Jim mccoy Couldn't have said it any better!

Excellent reporting, these are some of the same questions I have.

    Aliahna has PTSD…why?

    Grandfather?

  7. ejb says:

Thank you for putting this out here. I looked up Aliahna's facebook page Saturday afternoon and saw this creep on her friends list. I immediately had a bad feeling about him, especially when I saw the photo of her on his wall, and that was before I found out he was the "friend" their mother left them with. Put a message of my concerns on 21 Alive's page but no response. Again, thank you. I only hope my gut feeling is wrong…

  8. COwens says:

    You are awesome! Thanks

  9. FW Resident says:

And it looks like a lot of your assumptions were spot on. He's now been convicted of her murder.

  10. sadness says:

Turns out he IS the filthy bastard who did this, very sad!

  11. angry says:

nothing is making any sense to this story. supposedly the mom was sick for a week and couldn't take care of her kids. the stepfather worked nights so he couldn't take care of the kids. well one would think the kids would be asleep at night so their isn't alot mother would have had to do with sleeping kids. Grandma is on the front page of the paper acting sad. Why couldn't she watch the children. why would a mother with 3 young girls live in a trailer park with 16 sex offenders. why did this little girl have so many problems. would it have anything to do with the fact her grandfather was a sex offender and this man was a sex offender. Has abuse been going on for a long time to this 9 yr old? I think mother, stepfather and grandma are all guilty. It sounds like no one wanted to take care of these children so they left them with bad people to get them out of their hair.

  12. nika says:

sounds like this very guy just confessed to the murder, and has been arrested and charged ——- maybe you were right that his face book behavior shows the heart of a monster

  13. nika says:

I agree —– the mother has considerable responsibility here —- leaving her vulnerable child in these dangerous hands for so long. this was very possibly an intentionally destructive choice on her part.

  14. nika says:

did he smoke the cigar to relax after doing the murder?

  15. Mike Moses says:

Sick sick sick I can't understand this story and the outcome. I'm a dad of three kids and I worked 3rd shift for 20 plus years to ensure that my kids was not left alone with some other person. Kids are parents responsibility. Something is wrong with the mother and the step dad. I would not be surprised to learn that they aren't even really married.

  16. Canadian Mom says:

They had numerous phone calls, yet no one asked about the little girl? As a mom, my first question would be "how is my son?". Grandpa was a child molester? Wow! @angry I completely agree with you! The mother is just as responsible here! Come on how do you pawn your child off like that for a week? That must have been some flu! What about the other 2 girls? Did anyone else notice on his FaceBook page the album with the "kids" that was just down right creepy, looked like he was "grooming " them. Just because he hadn't been arrested for a sex offence doesn't mean anthing except that he hadn't been caught.

@William Wolf: I had the same question what was PTSD from????? How does a 9 yr suffer from that? How does a mother live with 15 registered sex offenders within arms reach? I wish we had a register here in Canada! I would be checking it on a regular basis to ensure my childs safety!

At least he is now behind bars, and even among criminals he is scum and they will not show him any mercy. In a way that punishment alone is more than any legal system could ever give him. (as long as they let him be in the general population). I have a feeling the mother is involved in this as well and if she is, then there is a special kind of hell for her too.

My heart goes out to the two living siblings, may God protect them and take them under his wing and find them a good home. RIP sweet child.

  17. lisa says:

good reporting. def. things the main stream media is too lame to print

  18. Mike Moses says:

Wake up Parents!!!! Do you realize that Northway Mobile Home Park has 15 Sex offenders there? Do you know where that park is? Did you know it's within walking distance of the Carmike Theater? Have you allowed your young kids to go there alone without you? Or did you simply just drop them off and left them while you did whatever it is you do? Can neighborhood code enforcement go out there and inspect the grounds to see if it meets current codes and if not shut the park down? Sadly little Aliahna Lemmon's death was made us all aware of Northway Mobile Home Park, but now that we know let's get this place closed down before something else happens.

  19. lisa says:

@ Mike Moses, sure shut the mobile home park down, but then where do those 15 sex offenders go? It doesn't solve the problem….why wasn't tarah souders's (ali's mom) watching the girls? why a neighbor? nothing adds up and AWB has done a great job presenting facts. If you read Michael P's MySpace profile his "mood" says "aroused". Doesn't take but one second to see this guy is a perv…..

  20. woman says:

I ike your logic. Do you think that maybe the crime was panned by the mother as well???

  21. Teresa says:

well i would like to know why the mother so as the other girls had said, why did she just get the one and not the other 2?

  22. angrymom says:

Great job with the facts! I too am wondering, why couldn't a mother and a step-father handle 3 children when 1 parent is sick? If she couldn't handle them and neither could the step father, why not call their real father? Why not the countless other relatives listed in Ft. Wayne in Aliahna's FB friends? If FB is to be believed, Grandma and her new hubby live in Florida so I can see why she didn't just drop them off at Grandma's but there were plenty of other people. Why did it have to be THIS neighbor. Come on Tarah is FB friends with this creep too, she HAD to know what kind of people? he was "friends" with. I surely wouldn't be leaving my children with anyone I wasn't related to overnight let alone for a week but to choose someone who makes a habit of "friending" teenage girls on FB…very weird.
It seems that her PTSD stems from her Grandfather, possibly her own father? I think grandma is in some real denial here on how the deafness and blindness happened. She had to know. If the PTSD did stem from Grandpa and his sexual assault was indeed on her in 2006 then why would you trust a man that lived with him? How did the two meet? In prison?
It all doesn't add up. I suspected Michael the minute I heard the initial report. Either mom and step dad aren't playing with a full deck or perhaps they are really strung out on something not to notice what is going on next door.

  23. Robert says:

Wow. The mother is 28 years old and is missing her teeth.
They need to remove the two remaining girls from this 'home'.
    White Trash? Absolutely.

  24. John says:

Well, it is indeed good investigative work. The media cannot print circumstantial evidence outside of that provided by law enforcement developing the case and would never use a news story to try and build a case. All media reports seem consistently void of this kind of information because from a legal standpoint in circumstances like this one, they must only use reliable source information, ie privileged release by law enforcement during the course of investigation. While often scarce of many facts, it is intentional and the over-divulgence of information could damage or even destroy the case against this man or even lose opportunity to link any potential accomplice by virtue of using information known only to certain individuals.

All of the information provided above may well have relevance, but it would be entirely reckless for the media to print it during the course of an active investigation and pending court trial. Surely you wouldn't want to be responsible for seeing whoever is responsible for this little girl's murder to be set free on a technicality that arose from information divulged out of the control of practices by law enforcement designed to prevent such a mistake, would you? It has indeed happened and it's the reason why law enforcement limits information release and why news agencies report only what they're given until the full elements of the case are built and the prosecutor has officially charged the defendant(s).

  25. k brotherton says:

Pleasae answer this..why did not mom check on kids several times a day? They were gone a week. Also it stated she was last seen in her clothes and coat. She was staying their, why would she have her day clothes on and not a nightgown? As a mother and grandmother I talk with my son daily, he is 30 years old. He talks with his son daily also, even though they share custody. What is this world coming to??

  26. Conni says:

How freakin sad…that a mother would leave 3 beautiful little girls with a strange man…this is horrible…I am at a loss for words…

  27. Verla says:

Knowing all this, I think the mother and grandmother should be arrested as well for allowing the kids to be at the home of this pervert! I hope DSS takes the other children away from this family of sickos!!!!

  28. Concerned says:

The other sad part to the story, the other two girls in the mother's care will not be removed because she made a bad judgement call on who to let watch her children. The state would never step in and take these children away because they have no place to put them. The drama that the state allows to go on inside of families who don't deserve children is astonishingly high. The other note about the Grandma stepping up, these people put their lives ahead of the well-being of children and therefore just don't care what happens to them. They think they can turn the other cheek and convince themselves that 'it's okay,' 'nothing will happen,' when in fact they know deep down that it is wrong to put those children in harms way. It might feel like a losing battle to want to do something about a child's environment with the state, the lawyers, and the welfare departments, but never give up. Look what happened to this poor little living soul who did nothing wrong. Remember folks, child abuse is everyone's business. If you see a child being mistreated, say something outright to the person, get their license plate number or something and inform authorities.

  29. Sad Mom says:

AWB – We all can tell how much heart and soul you put into this post. The outcome is tragic and I can't fathom how you're feeling knowing this monster wasn't stopped before he hurt little Aliahna.

  30. Bob G. says:

    AWB:
    Good points all around.

    Excellent assessment.
I miss the days when you regularly posted offenders here…maybe that will change back soon?

    Stay safe.

  31. Keepourchildrensafe says:

    Wow

  32. Concerned says:

so you don't want real comments on here do you admin?

  33. guest says:

This is in the County. No Code Enforcement jurisdiction

  34. Ransom_ says:

Let's not blame the victim! Such behaviour from a child that age must be a cry for help. In her case one that went unanswered. This little girl is a casualty of the culture wars. Somewhere a biological father failed with a cap F. As did her mother and other adults in her life.

  35. angrymom says:

SpedTeach- She did indeed go to school as there were comments posted from several families of classmates on several of the news stories. I hope the parents of her classmates seek out psychological help for their children to help deal with their loss. They are bound to hear what happened on the news.

Concerned: You have to be patient, AWB sometimes takes a bit to post your comments but I prefer this way to FB. Some idiots have nothing better to do than sit and post random crap in threads to detract from the real story.

  36. Vita says:

SpedTeach, never was said while Aliahna was missing she required MEDS – who is to say that her Monster did not tell the press/LE all these " labels" for her own benefit. Turn the table and attempt to make it sound like Aliahna's "issues" were the reason of her vanishing. Blame the baby. She ran away, she escaped, she sleep walks, she has all these " labels". I would love to see an actual statement from a Doc, proof Aliahna
had been " diagnosed" with the laundry list of health problems. Clearly something was very wrong and she has/had health issues her weight " 40lbs" at 4'4 – 9 years old. Poverty & Parental Drug use comes to mind. Found her Bio Dads Myspace, her photos, he claiming her his: http://www.myspace.com/dam271978
He has a FB, no mention of her, no photos of her. Will he fight for now? Praying for Justice ~ Aliahna Lemmon RIP * at least no one can hurt her any longer.

  37. AWB says:

Concerned. I've moderated and approved every comment today. I'd suggest you re-submit it.

    Regards,
    AWB

  38. MamaBee says:

@SpedTeach- I hope you are not actually a special education teacher. If so, may God help the poor children in your class with behavioral and mental health problems, or are emotional or physically disabled. Whether they received the cruel misfortune of being born that way, or have suffered horrific abuse which lead to their condition, I'm highly disturbed that a special ed teacher would refer to this poor murdered girl as extremely "defiant and manipulative." With that attitude, you sound quite ill-fit for your line of work. : /

  39. AWB says:

I know who SpedTeach is. I've deleted her comment and banned her IP. She's a troll. Sorry her pathetic comment found it's way here. My apologies.

  40. wind says:

Now for the next logical question, where was CPS? This psycho combination of adults could not possibly have remained off the CPS radar for 9 years. The grandfather was convicted just 5 years ago, was he allowed to babysit too? Sure, blame the criminals, but where was the law?

  41. Tris says:

Good personal investigating. Sadly it looks like you were pointing in the right direction. I'm wondering if this is something bigger than just this one guy here… There is something odd about the whole story… location, people involved etc.

Why are a majority of the residents of this trailer park sex offenders!? (16 offenders in roughly 24 homes!) That could be close to 50% of the residents!
Where did this little girls PTSD start? What caused it?
Why couldn't this guy or anyone else for that matter come stay with her to watch the kids and help her rather than have the kids go to this killers house?

Maybe there is something going on in this trailer park much larger than this single case of child molestation and murder… I'm just saying… maybe this little trailer park should be on special watch…

  42. jane says:

He does mention her on his facebook, if you look he has "Aliahna Maroney Lemmon" listed as his daughter in the "Family" section and I believe that is her in his profile picture: http://www.facebook.com/people/Dawayne-Maroney/10…
He is also friends with Michael Plumadore, disturbingly enough…

  43. Karen says:

Thanks for the detective work. I suggest you look further on his FB page and at photo pasted there of 3 little girls with the caption "three little princesses"–Is this a photo of Aliahna and her sisters? Sure looks like it…what a monster-I hope they fry him!

  44. Melissa Ruffell says:

RIP beautiful girl… no telling how much suffering you have endured in your short life. I just pray someone protects your sisters from the "family" that was suppose to protect you…

Guide her in sweet Somer Angel… may you both be happy, loved and dancing…

Thank you AWB for posting what the media didnt. I too knew this POS did something to her… and I agree her family is also culpable…. they didnt keep their eyes on the prize.. may her sisters get a better chance. No telling what horrible things he has done to all of them. There is NO punishment that can compare to what he did… no justice for this creep… just a hope for hell.

  45. connie smith gordon says:

I couldn't agree more..No one wanted to watch these kids.I have kept my kids when I was sick.I worked nights and slept when I could…How lazy can you be to not check on your kids..Ring ring..hello,hey babysitter how are the kids, need anything?are they behaving for you? Can I speak to one or all of them..It's that f**king easy ,if you give a shit,or you're not so incredibly happy that they're gone that ya just kind of hate to remind yourself that they are your responsibility..For God's sake, did they not live in the same trailer park?Mommy or daddy couldn't spark up enough energy to walk over and check on them?I am so mad….I watch my grandkids when I'm sick,I live through it.I do it because I want to know where they're at and they are safe. And as far as caring for my own children when they were little and I was sick,it was a survivable short term thing.I just sucked it up and did it..It can be done.I hope they are charged in a court of law.Lazy, selfish and full of excuses. When I'm out of town ,I call and check on my dogs. And they can't check on the kids..How tragic………..

  46. Diane says:

Never leave your children with anyone. They are easy prey. No one will ever care for them the way a loving mother and father can.WATCH YOUR CHILDREN. The lawmakers can't do anything after the fact. If you see something wrong, call them. Convicted child sex offenders should never be allowed near children, PERIOD. Put them someplace where they can never be a threat again. 15 sex offenders in a 24 space mobile home park. We can all b-tch and moan now, someone needs to sit down and come up with some REAL solutions to this moral breakdown.
Our love and prayers go out to the family of the sweet, beautiful life that was so sadly taken.

  47. slapphappe says:

FYI AWB I've referenced an image from your blog post to ask "How quickly will a confessed murderer’s Facebook friends disavow him?". You'd think people sick to their stomachs over this heinous crime would unfriend him in droves, and very quickly: Apparently not so …

  48. connie smith gordon says:

I see mommy and daddy managed to find a minute to wander on down to the trailer where their daughter was murdered..Your a week late idiots…And mommy dearest is in a wheelchair.Really? Paralysis from being so upset with nerves.Omg,give me a break.Huge sympathy ploy…Well mommy dearest, no sympathy here..But not for you and your lack of concern, common sense, and maternal instinct your daughter would be alive today.

  49. Gadsen says:

Ya know Connie, I tended to agree with you; however, I've given her mother a little more thought. It doesn't sound like mommy had a wonderful childhood either, geez..she's in her 20's and had a 9 year old. I'm trying to be objective about mommy because I believe she's in a lot of pain. Doubtful she's the only 20+ year old in Allen County that is selfish and I do believe she was selfish. Also, either I have sympathy for her or not, the wheelchair doesn't evoke more sympathy for her.

  50. Diane says:

You all know we have to do something to stop all of this damage to our children. I have plugged into the local sex crimes website and find 18 child sex offenders registered within a 5 mile radius of my own home. One on my own block, which I knew about. I make sure there are no children unattended on my block. How about you all?. I came up with the idea we can do this one neighborhood at a time. I have made a copy of the information about the offender on my block, I am going go to the UPS store and make enough copies to put on every door in my 2 block area. We have alot of renters in our area with children. We need to STOP this once and for all. We cannot expect others to do it for us. Will anyone join in this campaign to keep our neighborhood's safe once again?

There's something I don't understand either If Plumadore was already taking care of Aliannha's grandfather why did Tarah moved close by so she can take care of her father???wasn't the pedo taking care of him???
