Yesterday I posted this article: Why the UAW is still full of crap which describes how the UAW won’t allow certain vehicles to be parked in their parking lots.

Today, an employee of General Motors not only took offense, he suggested you go buy a Ford.

Editor’s note: This comment came from a GM employee and he’s saying “buy a Ford?”

I would not allow a foreign car on my property either. Wake up. Most of the camry profits go to japan, buy a Ford and the money stays in the US supporting American jobs…. yeah you’re a real patriot

My post was in no way intended to lambaste Ford. It was to illustrate how the UAW is eaten up with the union dumbass. That aside, given that GM took Obama’s handout at our expense, screw GM.

So the question is, should I rat him out and possibly cost him his job, or thank him for supporting Ford.

The guy's right, and you would be rather unethical to "rat someone out". There are more and more automotive components that come from different sources, but make no mistake the profits end up in Japan, Korea, and Germany. If the Congress and whatever czar Obama had managing the auto bailout had a frickin' brain, they would have made "Cash for Clunkers" apply only to US companies. More than 70% of the taxpayer supported program, went straight out of the US economy.

I'd say rat his ass out but he won't get fired, hell he'll get a bonus and the dems will ask him to run for office.

I love my Suburban, but it's the last GM product in my household.

An awfully big share of those "profits" go back into the plants here in the states. You know, the efficient, non union plants that employ thousands of American employees and spin off industries. Unlike my 2008 suburban which was made in MEXICO…

and please cite your 70% source…did you mean 70% of the vehicles sold didn't have "GM or Chrysler" on the hood?

And if the congress had any brains they never would have implemented cash for clunkers to begin with. Every bit as ineffective as the 8k tax credit for homebuyers..

Congress and brains should ever appear in the same sentence, it just seems ridiculous, but union and dumbass in the same sentence is just a fact.

Your comment makes no sense, the argument is about US vs Foreign based automakers. Ford is still a US auto manufacturer.

As far as 'ratting' anyone out….We enjoy Freedom of Speech by the 1st Amendment, but it goes both ways. Bloggers have a responsibility to 'protect their sources', just like a legitimate news source. (unless you're MSNBC, CBS, ABC, etc. Bwaaaa!)

  5. Rat him out, the U.A.W. will protect his job.

BTW, if the UAW got a foothold in a foreign auto plant here in the states would the UAW demand no domestic cars park on their premises?

The guy sounds like a prototypical union member… Truth is if you have a GM product sitting in your drive way, the majority of the materials, production machinery, and manpower that went into making it was from "foreign" sources of one stripe or another.
Union workers are too selfish to embrace the facts, being that the stranglehold the UAW has had upon domestic automakers is one of the major contributing forces to the demise of Detroit. In their narrow view as long as they get there inflated wages and benefits then life is good… to hell with the rest of us… after all you ain't part of the "brotherhood".

A UAW workers $30 plus an hour wage has never increased my income. The only thing it has ever done was contribute to my "last" (and I mean …last) GM vehicle costing nearly what I paid for my first home 30 years ago!

If that’s what a Union hack means when they say "their wages help all workers"…. you can keep your help. I think I can do better without it.

Yeah, I am bit bitter, only because I have been an Engineer most of my life designing and building the production equipment that these overpaid prima donnas’ use on a daily basis.

I have seen firsthand the shenanigans that go on inside Ford, GM, and Chrysler plants. I have also seen what goes on inside of Toyota and Honda. It’s no secret why the import manufacturers have kicked the living hell of the domestics. They tend to "FIRE" workers that sleep on the job; the UAW promotes them to Union Steward…. that is a mild example… the ones that committed the truly heinous acts are running the UAW now.

I got a suggestion for the Unions, why don't you stand up on your own 2 feet like the rest of us; defend yourself before management like the rest of us do… I personally don't need a group of "thugs" to represent me… If I don't like the way I am being treated I tell my employer. If it gets to the point its not working I exercise my “free will” and tell them to "get bent" and move on…

Of course its hard to have that kind of freedom when your entire skill set amounts to putting the lug nuts on a Sierra truck 6 hours of your day, to pay for your 50" plasma screen TV's, 2 new GM vehicles, and $250K house, none of which you own, and all of which are on credit and a mortgage (which you probably didn’t qualify for) that now the rest of us are now responsible for….

I know that is harsh, but I am sick of hearing these empty skulled union automatons cry about how rough they have life… As if the union worker has to face "problems" that none of the rest of us have to face.

Grow up and put your big boy pants on and become part of the solution rather than the problem. Just my two cents…fire at will…

" I personally don't need a group of "thugs" to represent me…". Then make sure you are at the polls on 11/2/2010 to start the removal process of the current administration!
