A new report (link: PDF file) from the Neil M. Barofsky, the special inspector general for the Troubled Asset Relief Program of the Treasury Department claims Obama’s automotive task force didn’t know what the hell they were doing.
“It is not at all clear that the greatly accelerated pace of the dealership closings during one of the most severe economic downturns in our nation’s history was either necessary for the sake of the companies’ economic survival or prudent for the sake of the nation’s economic recovery,” the report said.
The report which was released on Sunday estimated that “tens of thousands of jobs were lost as a result.”
Obama put Steve Rattner in charge of managing the auto bailout program. This was a guy with zip in the way of automotive industry experience. Rattner left after less than three months on the job because he was the target of a federal probe of some nefarious activities at a New York pension, only to be replaced by Ron Bloom, an official from the steelworkers union who also had no experience in the auto industry.
Just last month Obama promoted 29 year-old Sam Kass, his former personal chef from Chicago to to Senior Policy Adviser For Healthy Food Initiatives. The guy doesn’t have the credentials. But hey, you don’t need any to work for Obama.
How’s that change working for you now?

Not only did we lose jobs, the auto companies also lost sales opportunities because the sales force was reduced. In retrospect, the government's action was probably illegal intrusion into private enterprise … simply because the dealerships were all independent businesses.
Way back in May of 2009, before this ill-considered event went down, I wrote: "Why Close Dealerships?"
Bob, every time I visit your blog, it still tries to download a file to my computer called blogarchivecal_ads.html
What's up with that?
Remeber the underlying reason for closing dealerships.
Union manufacturer: GOOD__
Independent Business (Dealers): BAD____
Ultimate goal? Union and government owned company makes cars and distribute directly to consumers. No dealers.
Same plan as health insurance. Break them with premium caps & regulation, too big to fail so nationalize them, distribute insurance policies directly to the public collecting premiums via the IRS.
The only people that don't admit this administration is deliberately socializing our government are the socialist Democrats themselves.
Dan:
The file ts a Google ad associated with my archive calendar which doesn't load properly.. For whatever reason iGoogle has never fixed.it. It is harmless and I stopped it by blocking it on Adblock Plus, but if it is irritating my readers, I am probably going to have to dump the calendar.
Thanks for the feedback.
