Tom Hayhurst released a statement regarding Marlin Stutzman’s win in the 3rd district congressional caucus yesterday.
Congratulations to state Senator Marlin Stutzman on his nomination by Republican Party leaders. I look forward to an honest debate and spirited campaign focused on the issues.

I’ve opened up free health clinics throughout the district, treating our neediest citizens when no one else would.
From his web site:
Helping Others: For over 30 years, Tom Hayhurst has practiced medicine in this part of Indiana. He’s helped thousands of patients and their families through illness and back to good health. He co-founded the Matthew 25 Health & Dental Clinic’s free pulmonary clinic. In 2007, Dr. Tom co-founded the Wolf Lake Free Health Clinic that serves Noble and Whitley counties. And every week, he works at the Allen County Tuberculosis Clinic, battling an ancient disease that still haunts our region.
Nice, sounds very philanthropic. However, note the last sentence woven into this which would make some assume he’s volunteering his time there.
I checked into this when he used the exact same language on his web site in 2006. According to the Auditor at the Finance Department for Allen County, back in 2006 Hayhurst received $1325.00 a month for his time at the Tuberculosis Clinic. He spends two hours a week there. That’s $162.62 an hour. We’ll check next week to see what the pay rate is for 2010.
His WIKI entry used to have this statement.
Dr. Hayhurst opened the Matthew 25 Pulmonary Clinic in Fort Wayne and volunteers weekly at the Allen County Tuberculosis Clinic.
That has since been scrubbed.

As always, angry white boy, you are wrong. Leave it to the right wing to slander a good person. Get your facts straight, he works more than 2 hours a week.
Larry, I confirmed the hours worked with the auditor. These are the facts.
who cares how many hours a week he worked, point is its not volunteer if your being paid.
Leave it to the left to be a bunch of morons.
And the hours he works aren't important – what is important is that he often leads people to believe he volunteers his time and that's not true – he gets paid.
Perhaps the good Doctor is paid, but gives his pay back to the clinic as a contribution. That way, he can claim he volunteers, and at the same time, get the benefit of the tax break for a charitable contribution? Or, maybe something is just fishy, but that never happens in politics around here…..
"And every week, he works at the Allen County Tuberculosis Clinic, battling an ancient disease that still haunts our region."
I don't understand how that quote leads someone to think he volunteers? It says he works, not volunteers. I'm not voting for him, but I don't think he's wrong on this one.
Or perhaps he is a Democrat, and so does not have to worry about the flyby media calling him on it?
Ransom, you mean the SeaGull media, that flies in, craps on everything and flies out? Democrats would never do that, either.
"Zactly! I have been so "painted" — they are a fifth column, Douglas. First thing we do, we kill all their teleprompters.
