The caucus was an interesting process. I’m glad it’s over, but we’ll have another within a few weeks to replace Matt Bell who is now officially off the ballot for state rep. in district 83 .

While at the caucus today I was told something about one of the candidates, Ryan Elijah, and decided to ask Ryan personally if it was true.

I told Ryan I had heard he had been promised a job if he would drop out of the race, and asked if it was true. He said it was. He said, “oh yes.” I then asked if it was Randy Borror and Ryan replied, “no, it was some of his supporters.” Ryan obviously didn’t take them up on the offer.

I was telling this to Phil Troyer and he informed me that during the primary, Bob Thomas had offered him the position of campaign manager if he would drop out of the race. Troyer said he declined.

Interesting.

Marlin Stutzman is your candidate, and I feel certain he’ll trounce Obamacare supporter Tom Hayhurst in the general election November 2nd. Congratulations to Mr. Stutzman.

I have a lot of pictures, I’ll try to post them tomorrow.

I'm not sure about the trounce part, Hayhurst has played this game before and played it very strong. Marlin has a lot of work ahead of him in order to win and I think he will. But now is not the time to gloat, now is when the real work begins.

I don;t want to be accused of supporting Dr. Tom, but I think we need to be fair. Back in March he told the Elkhart newspaper that he didn't support the Obamacare legislation that was being railroaded through Congress.

"Though Hayhurst said economic and employment issues are his primary focus, he can't help but talk about health care, given his vocation and recent national debate. Bipartisanship is desperately needed overall in Washington, he said, and on the current legislation, he'd side with the other party.

'I would vote against the bill there now,' he said. 'I think the Republicans are probably right. We need to start over.'"

Whether Tom Hayhurst would support Obamacare or vote against it is irrelevant. In fact, none of Dr. Hayhurst's stances should matter come November. Simply put, a vote for Tom Hayhurst is a vote for the caucus he would be a part of…namely Nancy Pelosi and the agenda of very liberal Democrats who are in leadership positions in Congress. Dr. Hayhurst would have little to no power and practically no voice in what the Democratic leadership would push through and sending him to Washington, no matter what stances he says he would take, would keep the current Democratic leadership in place. This fall's election isn't about individual congressman, it is about the team they will be part of and which party's leadership will control the future direction of Congress….IMHO.

Problem with Doctor Tom is Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid. He can state whatever position he wants but, at the end of the day, he is them.

Tom didn't like because it didn't go far enough in government intervention. He wanted the final bill to be much much more left-wing. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_w38fLieNJA
When Tom talks about the WE Society vs the ME Society he misses the point. Calling the parents of the neighbor kid is a little different than having the government calling the parents.

  6. Dan as an outsider, from the 1st District, I will look forward to some posts on Marlin's opponent. What does he stand for? Who has his ear? We all definitely want Marlin to win in November and join Jackie and Todd Young in Washington in January.

Congrats to Marlin, and I think he will trounce the Democrat, even if the Democrat runs as a Bayh clone. (Will Hayhurst use Bayh, or run from every current federalized Democrat?)

Those congrats used, perhaps we did miss a good man in Borror. We are in desperate need of jobs creation stimuli. Sounds like he might have a long suit there.

Perhaps Marlin should offer him one?

Thanks for the Youtube link … it should gets lots of play over the next four and one-half months.

Hayhurst now doesn't like the pattern of the tea leaves, so he is searching for an escape route using the Elkhart Truth. According to the doctor, "high-speed" rail is also good for the economy. Cost per passenger mile will be far, far worse than Citi-Link's stats. Glad to see that he is planning to keep our taxes down. http://www.etruth.com/Know/News/Story.aspx?id=507….
