Scott Welsh of Goshen, Indiana is announcing his candidacy to request the Republican caucus place his name on the ballot for the Republican special and general election ballots for US Representative in Indiana’s 3rd Congressional District. Welsh will hold press conferences on Tuesday, June 8, 2010 at 10:00 AM in Goshen and at 1:00 PM in Fort Wayne. The Goshen press conference will be held at Bosco’s Place, 117 N. 5th Street and the Fort Wayne event will be held at Don Hall’s Guesthouse & Conference Center, 1313 W Washington Center Road.
Welsh decided to enter the crowded field of candidates because he feels the caucus process has turned into a primary election. The caucus to be held this Saturday in Columbia City will only included precinct committee chairs from 520 precincts in the 3rd District. Welsh said, “This is really looking a lot like the primary of the seat vacated by Congressman Buyer in the 4th District with so many candidates. Only this time, the voters are left out of the process.”
Welsh’s website, ScottWelshforCongress.com, describes Welsh as 58 years old and single with no children.
Attached is a copy of Welsh’s letter sent to the Precinct Committee Chairs of the 3rd District.
