The obvious reason behind Pat White’s termination at WOWO

WOWO’s ratings during the Pat White show in the coveted “Adults age 25-54) have dropped 31% in the last two years, (fall 2007 through fall 2009). Charly Butcher’s show is also tanking in the same demo, having lost 18% share in the same period. Rush Limbaugh is holding steady, and Glenn Beck’s number are very impressive. During Pat White’s 3pm – 6pm time slot, WOWO was 6th. WBTU, WBYR, WXKE, WQHK & WMEE all beat him.
I was told by several people that the removal of Pat White had been in the works for at least two weeks. I’m also told that his remarks regarding “Blacks” on Thursday caused station management to yank him off the air early.
If I were Charly, I’d be putting a little polish on the resume.

what were the comments on thursday you speak of. I have not been a fan of whites for years but thought there had to be more to the story then just fireing the guy out of no where.
They were talking about a story where a woman worked for a police dept. and changed her hair color to what the dept. said was purple and they didn't allow that and she was going to sue. I think somebody called in and said it was probably red hair and Pat White said something like “black people didn't have natural red hair” (or something to that effect) and that triggered a firestorm (of callers). I don't blame them – I'd be upset too.
Personally, I've come to expect such comments out of him and this wasn't a surprise. I'm glad he's gone. I certainly didn't appreciate the on-air comments he made on Tuesday (4/20) condoning drug use during the Marijuana smokers' holiday. How stupid can you be? Parents have enough trouble trying to keep their kids clean and then you have this guy jump on the air in the 3pm-6pm time slot (after school is out) and advocate/condone illegal drug use. Nice. But that is an opinion Pat has had (legalize all drugs) since I have listened to his program. Regardless of what your opinion is on this topic, you have to admit it isn’t right to have someone advocating doing anything illegal on the public air waves.
I thought it was a waste of airtime for him to talk about American Idol.
i think mr butcher should be worried, his show is extremely boring with no talent what so ever. dan madis with his using the word "indeed" to add to the bantor back and forth is worthless. also while i am bitching, the bantor between the sports guy and mr butcher is Nauseating. i can't satnd listening to that show anyomore……
I have made no secret of belief that pat White was a lightweight talk show host because he was ill-prepared to discuss the very topics he chose. As soon as a caller challenged his premise, he returned to his single talking point …repeat, repeat, repeat.
However, anyone who thinks that Pat Miller will be better, had better think again. My car radio is set to WOWO because of Rush, but the minute that I get into the car on Saturday morning, I am forced to retreat from Pat Miller's inane subjects and opinions. He simply does not have the following to raise the ratings for the evening drive-time.
As for Charly, he certainly "butchers" the English language. Listening to his talks with Cong-ers-man Souder and to his Per-fessional commercials is as unpleasant a sound as fingernails scraping a blackboard.
Wish wowo wasn't so Political, Use to listen in the morning on the way to work, but Charlie is so political, I get nothing out listening, so I turn to Mike and Mike. Sorry
Pat Miller is a good guy, but he won't represent any real 'change of direction' IMO. I'm guessing there is no money to bring in actual tested radio talent from another market.
The movie reviews were boring as well.

Not that I am in any way sad to see him go (although I will miss my "pat rants" I would have with my friends discussing how annoying the man was) I would just say that advocating the legalization of something (making it legal) like marijuana cannot be equated with condoning or encouraging someone do something illegal. I have never heard Pat encourage someone do something illegal.
I also am not sorry to see Pat go. More recently, I've found myself counting the number of times he repeats the same sentence rather than actually listening to what he eventually has to say about a particular subject. Personally, I do enjoy Pat Miller and plan to listen to him–he's very upbeat.
A previous writer's comments regarding Charly Butcher made me stop and think. I really enjoyed Charly banterering back and forth with Bob Chase, and I haven't enjoyed the morning program as much lately. However, I believe the issue is that Charly has no one with which to banter as creatively as good old Bob! I miss him so…
I've caught myself mentally commenting during Pat's show that it sounds like he's doing a re-tread of Rush's, Shaun or Savage's topics without the mental chops to pull it off……and whenever challenged as to his understanding of the topic, seems to pull out the "Air Force background" as some type of 'I know things that I can't say'…. He'd probably do better in a midnight spot and go with the Art Bell School of Conspiracy Theory model…..
I gave up on pat white a long time ago. I once counted him repeat the same cliche in a 3 minute setup 7 times. His grasp of subject matter that he chose was shallow at best. Sad thing is, I doubt that the other Pat will be any better. Thank you IPOD for making my 40 mile trip to and from work bearable.
At least we don't have to listen to him blather on about his daughters anymore. If I had to hear about Pizza Hut Wednesdays one more time… ALso I love how he always had a comment about the public school system when his kids didn't even go to public schools. He knew alot about nothing.
Gee, we got cheated out of the last Pat's Pub. That was certainly a heart-warming feature full of cheer and intelligent banter. Do you suppose WOWO is holding on to those audio clips of a beer being poured?
WOWO management is very thin skinned, remember Dave Macy? If people speak the truth, they are in trouble. Only liars get rewarded!
Another question regarding the Pat White show: whatever happened to Queen Diane? She was just gone one day and nobody would ever say a word about what happened.

Macy was fired for a reason and it had nothing to do with on air stuff, or at least he gave them a good enough reason off air to get rid of him.
For all of you that can't stand Pat White you sure as hell sound like you listened to him regularly. Do black people have red hair? I would say not but maybe some out there does. What is so racist about that. Sounds like a fact to me. And that fires some of you up? wow.
Pat White was canned because he had local content not because he was an ass or. ratings. Pat White brought in money. I don't think Pat Miller has done a commercial this week. What did happen to the queen. By the way Black people don't have red hair and those that dye their hair odd colors scare me.
I listen to WOWO all the time. I find it hard to believe that a station that carries the likes of Michael Savage can call Pat White's program wrong in any context. Freedom of speech only applies to those who own the radio stations I guess. Pat Miller is a watered down Pat White. Changing the dial!
She was cut from being a full time employeee and decided to walk away.
WOWO needs to get some talented people if they want to air local personalities. Otherwise, they should stick with nationally syndicated shows. Pat White was a real disservice to the community.

Pat White was lame but harmless. Pat Miller is terrible and a fool. Spending two days on running Bob Thomas down and pimping for Mark Souder was sickening Anyone with even a casual observance of Souder’s career would know how morally broke he has been since Clinton’s presidency.

As a business man Pat White has a very non-christian way of doing things. After failing at his design business many people were left hanging waiting to be paid for the work they have done for this "man". It's well documented and as far as I'm concerned he's a scum. I find it interesting how he's a huge homophobe while his gay co-host the Queen has to bite her lip when he starts up his anti rants. He will fail again and judging by the comments from his first job many people can care less.
Do blacks have red hair?.. I have no idea.
Why is that racist?.. I'm kind of curious now..
BTW I thought Pat Miller WAS Pat White.. I still think they are the same person.. You can't prove it..
