Never been a fan. Here’s more proof he’s a bit off.
From: An Interview With Ron Paul by John Hawkins
Hawkins: Getting down to the last two questions here…. Most people consider Abe Lincoln to be one of our greatest presidents, if not the greatest president we’ve ever had. Would you agree with that sentiment and why or why not?
Paul: No, I don’t think he was one of our greatest presidents. I mean, he was determined to fight a bloody civil war, which many have argued could have been avoided. For 1/100 the cost of the war, plus 600 thousand lives, enough money would have been available to buy up all the slaves and free them.

I don't have time to editorialize either. That is why I draw cartoons.
Lincoln fans, read it and weep here: http://www.summitcitynoise.com/Site/Rocks_Bottom….
You are making this way too easy, AWB.
Lincoln led the charge in a fratricidal war that expanded the role of president to kinglike status, upsized the federal government, broke ancient laws on hostility against civilians, suspended the then 650 year old writ of habeas corpus and put bankers in charge of our destiny.
Think outside the bun, Dan. Slavery was slated for obsolescence by the cotton gin and industrialization. The war had more to do with federal control – and look what that has gotten us in the end.
Do you dislike Ron Paul more than John McCain?
I think some of us hate Ron Paul most when he's right.
How do we face generations of bad decisions/bad votes?
Lincoln didn't have the Constitutional authority for the executive orders he issued. Further the states that succeeded did so legally. Less than eighty years earlier they had willingly joined under the umbrella of the U.S. Government and in the 1860s they were willingly ending their participation in that great experiment. Just think if they hadn't been forced to join back in – we'd have two competing "federal" governments in America and we all know that competition is good for us little folks.
