The necessity of mankind (and animals for that matter) to reproduce to continue the species clearly indicates the biological intentions given to us by whom/whatever created us.

If you believe homosexuality is genetic, how do you explain the reproduction part?

Sexual preference is just that, preference. Not that there's anything wrong with that. (sorry couldn't resist the obligatory Seinfeld reference)

I am of the opinion that homosexuality is not a lifestyle choice, but rather is genetic or biological. To assume that someone making a lifestyle choice, say to stop doing drugs is something that someone can use to disprove the genetics of homosexuality is underselling the point a bit. It's a fact that testosterone and estrogen production in human beings is varied from person to person, and on the basis of that I have formed my opinion.

I do agree that there are individuals that "decide" to be a homosexual, but I think these people are typically not mentally stable as a general rule, and likely have some sort of persecution complex.

I don't think comment around the science of evolution or global warming are on topic. To me the topic here is the societal (not scientific) aspect of homosexuality.

Personally, I'm homophobic. I'm not sure the extent to which this is a lifestyle choice or perhaps genetics. This distorts my view of the issue and I am able to recognize that.

Well, your sticking your head in the sand and totally ignoring the many people who have changed to one lifestyle or another as a matter of choice. That in itself proves that it is NOT genetic, but possibly environmental. This is the worst kind of junk science there is, along with global warming and evolution.

I'm pretty liberal about gays' rights... but this is over the top.Unisex bathrooms and such in stores are one thing, but when you are speaking of minors in schools it's something else entirely.

How much unnecessary money will this cost Maine's state funded and thereby already cash strapped schools. Thankfully the lawyer was unsuccessful, the public hearing will kill it.

What I find quite interesting too is the commission's use of the term 'biological.' I am of the opinion that homosexuality is not a disease, but rather genetic (biological, if you will). So the term being used in this context is completely undermining the GLBT agendum that homosexuality is genetic or biological. The same applies to the use of the term 'gender identity issues.' I didnt think being gay was a gender identity 'issue.'

The only right answer here is that they cannot segregate students based on gender at all. I'm not sure how practical that is when it comes to the shower after gym class.
