Karen Goldner, one of Tom Henry’s lapdogs is picking up where Henry failed in 2001 by introducing a change to Chapter 93 of the Fort Wayne city code.

Way back in 2001, then city councilman Tom Henry introduced an ordinance that would have made gay and lesbians a special class of citizen. It was whittled down to this:

§ 93.021 LIMITED POWERS FOR COMPLAINTS OF SEXUAL ORIENTATION DISCRIMINATION.

With respect to complaints of discrimination based on sexual orientation, the Commission’s authority shall be limited to power to accept such complaints, notify respondents of the complaint(s) and attempt voluntary investigation(s) and voluntary mediation(s).

Now Karen Goldner, who I have always suspected is a lesbian, (go ahead, shoot me) wants to change that and is introducing changes to Chapter 93. Rather than post Goldner’s changes here, we’re just linking to Goldner’s entire document [here Word doc, may prompt you to download], so you can read it for yourself, but here’s one snippet.

SECTION 1. Section 93.001 Purpose; Findings of Fact, shall be deleted in its entirety and replaced with the following: [see existing code here]

Section 93.001 Purpose; Findings of Fact.

Discrimination in social, cultural and economic life in Fort Wayne against any person or persons because of race, sex, color, religion, disability, ancestry, national origin, place of birth, age, sexual orientation, genetic information, and gender identity is contrary to American principles and is harmful to the social, cultural, and economic life of the city. Discrimination, particularly in employment opportunities, public accommodations, education, and housing, increases the burden and cost of government; mind boggling, vice, juvenile delinquency, fires and other evils, thereby affecting the public safety, public health, and general welfare of the community. It is therefore deemed to be in the best interests of the city to create a metropolitan Commission to administer and enforce any anti-discrimination legislation and ordinances, all as authorized by the Indiana Civil Rights Act.

crossdresserDamn right it will increase crime. Imagine this. Suppose your young daughter goes into a local restaurant’s restroom and is exposed to a man and his penis. But hey, it’s okay because he’s wearing lipstick and a skirt. I’d kick his &%#@ crossdressing ass. Call me intolerant if you want, I’d still do it.

We have some legal types looking over the document, but at this point based on what we’re reading, the following could soon happen here in Fort Wayne.

You’ve worked most of your whole life and spent the family savings to build up a John Deere store. One of your employees decides to express himself by coming to work wearing a dress. In spite of his beard and manliness, he wants to wait on your customers dressed like a damn freak, (hear me Tracy?). You cannot fire him or prevent him from sending your customers laughing all the way to your competitors at the local Kubota or Tractor Supply store unless you want to be sued.

Bagel shop wouldn’t let him wear pink dress, so he sues

BOULDER, Colo. – Boulder’s new transgender ordinance could face its first test soon, as a bagel shop employee alleges he was discriminated against for wearing a pink skirt to work.

Or, how about this?

From WorldNet Daily – Saturday, October 28, 2006

helena stone01Be careful, ladies – it’s his bathroom, too
New York OKs crossdressers to use facilities of their choice

If you happen to be passing through Grand Central Station and nature calls, you just might want to hold it until you get home, because, this week, officials with the Metropolitan Transportation Authority decided that transgendered people have the right to use the bathroom – men’s or women’s – of their choice on New York’s subway system.

The agreement was reached following a lawsuit filed by Helena Stone -formerly known as Henry McGuinness – who was arrested twice in 2005 and once earlier this year for disorderly conduct after using the women’s restroom at Grand Central Station.

Stone, 70, who is a telephone technician for Verizon, worked regularly at the transit facility when the arrests happened.

A police officer allegedly called Stone “a freak, a weirdo and the ugliest woman in the world” and warned, “If I ever see you in the women’s bathroom, I’m going to arrest you.”

As you can see by the picture, that’s one ugly bitch man.

Gay Congressman Barney Frank, a Democrat from Massachusetts and without a doubt the leading advocate of the queer agenda in Congress even opposes including so-called “gender identity” language in a federal “gay rights” law, precisely for the same reason.

He specifically warns that so-called “transgender” activists will use such language to literally demand that men who believe they’re women be allowed to use women’s restrooms and showers.

Rep. Frank said: “There are workplace situations — communal showers, for example — when the demands of the transgender community fly in the face of conventional norms and therefore would not pass in any Congress. I’ve talked with transgender activists and what they want — and what we will be forced to defend — is for people with penises who identify as women to be able to shower with other women. There are no votes for that. And if that is the price for this bill, it is wrong.”

Who are the people behind this on a national basis? One group here in Indiana is Indiana Equality, and it’s almost certain they’re working with Goldner. We’ve been told they’re planning to crash the city council meeting next Tuesday with a bunch of rainbow flag waving activists to support her efforts.

On another note, committees are currently being organized in Columbus and Jeffersonville to work towards an amendment in their local human rights ordinance. The Gay Straight Alliance is coordinating the effort in Columbus and the IUS Civil Liberties Union student branch is leading the advocacy in Jeffersonville.

Indiana Equality’s Human Rights Ordinance Project is supported by the Tides Foundation’s State Equality Fund, a philanthropic partnership that includes the Evelyn and Walter Haas, Jr. Fund, the Gill Foundation, and anonymous donors.

Indiana equality has gotten money to train activists to launch these city ordinances from Colorado billionaire Tim Gill and George Soros’ Tides Foundation, a far left money group being used to undermine our society by the Marxist types.

Why any republican would vote for this crap is mind boggling, but I’m not expecting it here.

This is supposedly going to be presented on February 9th, that’s next Tuesday. Let’s show them we won’t tolerate this crap in our city and show up in force to peacefully protest councilwoman Goldner’s attempts to pass this ridiculous ordinance.

  1. Well, we're touching on two different topics/opinions for me:

1.) "Separate but equal isn't"… we made sure we didn't have bathrooms labeled "Whites" and "Colored", because we knew that was wrong. But we don't have any problem segregating men and women bathrooms. We should just move to unisex bathrooms and call it a day.

2.) "Freedom to hire and fire". I've always said, you should have the right to hire and fire whomever you want for whatever reason you want. Its your job, your image, your business, and you're the one who gets to decide what your business stands for. If you want to be a racist a-hole and refuse hire minorities, then that should be your right – just as it would be the right of minorities to stand outside on public property and picket your ass for doing so. And then, at the end of the day, your customer-base will decide whether your plan succeeds or fails. Complete, total, anarchocapitalism, baby. Get the gov't out of the decision-making process, and let commerce decide if the plan was good or bad.

One of the problems with these crazy ordinances is that it assumes the very worst in a city. America is more tolerant of homosexuality than ever before and yet to hear the homo-ativists talk, Fort Wayne is the world's meanest city. Well, where's the evidence of real legal discrimination? BTW, laughing at a man in a dress, is not discrimination.
It may be poor manners, but its human nature to laugh at weirdness. Wait, it MAY be discrimination if Goldner has an anti-laughing ordinance up her sleeve next !!
This is actually political correctness and liberalism run afoul and I think Hoosiers are sick of it. People need to call our council and say "no way," this is flawed legislation – table it and work on the economy, not strapping businesses with this lawyers' dream come true.

As for unisex bathrooms. . .. that sounds like a parent's nightmare. Imagine your daughter saying "mommy there's a man in our bathroom" or your wife telling you there was a man in the bathroom with her and your daughter. That's not very comforting all so we can claim to be a tolerant city. . . how about being a safe, common sense city, instead?

  4. AWB says:

    Derek,

Your second point I understand, but unisex bathrooms? But I cannot fathom a young child going into a bathroom that's unisex. How do you police that?

  5. AmITheOnlyOne says:

AWB – Karen is a lesbian, her partner is an X-Ray tech at Parkview Hospital Main Campus (East State Street). She understands the conservativeness of Ft. Wayne, thus hides it very well! Karen used to be a very intelligent individual that once upon focused on economic dev. (jobs), however I beginning to wonder what happened to her mind? Some of the laws she is trying to change is making me scratch my head.

  6. Kurt says:

FYI, if you want to let her know how you feel about this amendment, she is having a district meeting Wed. the 3rd.

    Council address

A week before Mayor Tom Henry gives his annual State of the City speech, Councilwoman Karen Goldner, D-2nd, will provide a speech on the state of her district.

The event will be 7 p.m. Wednesday in the Psi Ote Barn upper level at Northside Park.

She is expected to give an overview of activity in the district and discuss how to give input for how the city spends its income tax revenue on neighborhood projects.

  7. Bob G. says:

    Dan:
You make some very good points, as do the commenters.
I think ALL of us are capable of tolerance…to a point.

I can't endorse UNISEX bathrooms, though…that's just not right.
And to legislate any of this is nonsense.
    Aren't these lifestyle "choices", anyway?
Don't the rest of us have AS MUCH RIGHT to NOT be exposed to this?
Another case of a few dictating precedence to everyone else.
If the majority do NOT want any of it…so peak the masses…build a damn bridge and get over it.

If you REALLY NEED to have a crossdressing-transgender-gay or lesbian venue…there is ALWAYS San Francisco…
Or, you can keep it all behind closed doors.

Maybe I'm Draconian in my ways, but I will say that I'd much rather have some "other-sexed" persons living in my neighborhood than the human dregs I have NOW…(at least THEIR style sense and home decor would be a LOT better for the area…lol)
And crime would be a LOT lower…!
But hey, that's just my opinion.

  8. "If the majority do NOT want any of it…so peak the masses"

… no, that's the "tyranny of the majority" that our forefathers specifically wanted to avoid. You have the right to mock them, but you don't have the right "not to be exposed to it." Well, unless you decide to stay home in the private-property which you have the right to control.

  9. The same way you do now. You go in with them.

Culturally, it would be a huge shift, but — speaking strictly of logic here — how is gender-segregation of facilities any different than racial-segregation of facilities?

  10. MAC1967 says:

Homosexuals have the freedom to live as they choose, but they don't have the right to force everyone else to embrace their lifestyle through the long arm of the government or via a liberal activist on the city council.
You're free to wear a dress, of your a confused man, but don't use the government to force your way into the women's changing room at Kohls.
This ordinance needs to be defeated outright or have the gender identity parts completely removed from it.

  11. Scott says:

Again there is only one on city council that is worth a shit and that is LIZ BROWN. The rest are just HUGE wastes of tax payers money and should all look for positions in Washington with the rest of the waste. Wasting time on shit like this has got to end ASAP;x

  12. MAC1967 says:

Derek — Tyranny of the minority is also a possibility when a very small group of people who need help regarding their gender identity disorder want the majority to cast aside common sense and bathroom security (for example) so that no one makes a man in a dress feel uncomfortable. That's crazy . . . Tolerance of everything quickly becomes insanity.

  13. Guest says:

Scott, I coujld not disagree with you more . Actually, I think Liz "flush it down if it is brown" Brown is the worst of them all. Her abrasiveness and attitude turn me way off as with others. Mitch Harper is by far the best of the batch follwed closely by Tom Smith.

  14. guest says:

Mitch Harper? Seriously? I sent the guy 3 respectful e-mails about a government spending that was happening in my neighborhood and he never even had the courtesy to respond. Maybe I got caught up in his spam folder, or maybe not.

  15. CJH says:

well then heterosexuals don't need to force their lifestyle on everyone else. If you claim that homesexual/transgender lifestyle is a choice, then isn't heterosexual lifestyle a choice as well!? If you don't want to be a part of a community that excepts all people for who they are then stay in your own home and life in seclusion. We don't need people on our streets that are ignorant and intolerable. It is people like that that make this city and this world a disgrace!! Everyone has a right to be who they are without being judged and discriminated against. Grow up and learn to love people for who they are, not who they love or how they dress!!!!

  16. Kimberly W. 3501 says:

I completely agree with you. I am tired of my rights being subservient to those of others in the name of Political Correctness. Homosexuals and cross-dressing men know their boundaries in society. I have no right to tell them how to dress in private or in their particular social circles, so why should I have to be subjected to this abnormality in public or in the workplace. We have rules and codes of conduct and decorum for a reason. And when violated there should be consequences without threat of judicial repercussions to the employer. Allowing cross-dressing men to wear their pink skirts to work is creating a hostile environment for everyone. Forcing people to hire him solely because he wears a dress (not merit) is an insult to everyone that has ever been turned down for employment. And keeping him on for fear of law suites is the worse offense imaginable to an employer. Kinda like being hired to sleep with the boss and forcing everyone else to tolerate it.

  17. Dan as far as the bathrooms go there are already a lot of places that have gone to unisex bathrooms here in the Summit City because it saves space for businesses to sell more stuff and put loss leader items next to the line that forms beside the bathroom.

There is a huge difference between cross dressing and gender identity, Cross dressing is a fetish TransGendered and InterSexed issues are regarding a psychological and physical variations of the human body and self identification or awareness that is actually prevalent more today than before not just because of culture or political correctness but the very environment we live in.

It is my personal assertion that same increase that we are seeing in both misaligned after birth and modification in uteri or during development in the womb are specifically correlated to the increase of gender mutations in frogs at the Everglades in Florida which are showing male frogs with ovaries and female frogs with testicles, chemical contamination of the environment and modification of certain soldiers core DNA during incidents dating back to the Vietnam Conflict all the way through both Iraq wars.

Even though I am a conservative individualistic person I will also be among those carrying a rainbow sash and asking that my wonderful City allow for the most fragile among us to live freely and be given the same opportunity to succeed.

    Fr. Fozy Bear

  18. Does this mean we'll eventually get co-ed showers like in "Starship Troopers?"

  19. guest says:

Did anyone watch this tonight? What a joke. Karen Goldner is a tool. Human RIghts decided in a City Council meeting? No wonder she didn't get any votes to introduce the bill. Who does she think she will convince over the next two weeks when she tries it again?
