JEERS to Mayor Tom Henry and his family for cutting into the line at the botanical gardens to see Santa without saying thank you to anyone, especially my daughters who were next in line. JEERS also to the escort at the gardens for saying, “We’ll all have a better year if the mayor gets to see Santa.” Wait in line like everyone else, mayor!

That is quite uncharacteristic of Tom. It surprises me. I have griped about many of the policies of this mayor and fought him hard over Calhoun Street, but I have never seen him be anything but overly friendly and courteous. Tom usually performs his duties as “father mayor” with gusto and taste, the cutting of ribbons, the kissing of babies, the reading of fairy tales to classrooms full of eight-year olds.
By way of observation, when I worked for Win Moses, there were many occasions when the mayor was scheduled to do something and we apologized our way through crowds to get to a stage or door or meeting. Perhaps this is one of those examples and the apology was not well enough express. Perhaps it was not.
But look at the bright side…..our Maximum Supreme Ruler was able to travel south on Calhoun street to get there.
Or, perhaps His Honor was mistaken and thought the event was to congratulate him for his marvelous vision of transforming the Calhoun Street corridor into just another city street….a nice looking city street, but ordinary compared to what previously existed.
Just wait, when they get around to the federally-demanded storm sewer rehab in the downtown area…..I got a dozen Coney Island hotdogs that says, they’ll rip up Calhoun – again. What’s another million (plus bonding costs) bucks to The King. (no slight to Elvis).
Let’s face it. King Henry (cute nickname) takes care of his own. Period.
I wonder how good all our christmases will be when Sants give him the big bag of $#!t he deserves.
win moses still owes my grandmother money when he agreed to buy cookies from her mentaly challenged child then never paid. my grandmother was a democratic precienct big shot that threw alot of parties for the dems since the 40′s. to this day she has nothing good to say win or his family
I seems it’s a sort of malady one contracts after being elected, where you’re somehow entitled because you are so important and run over just about anyone or anything to stay in power. King Henry or Win Moses, Harry reid, Barney Frank, Obama, is there really any difference?
