Two brave souls in Indianapolis need a dollar from you.
Read on.
Darren Heil says he would do just about anything for Community First Initiative, a nonprofit he started that helps establish mentoring programs at schools.
This week, he’s backing up his claim by camping out in the cold until CFI gets at least halfway to its $25,000 fundraising goal.
[...]
Heil, 39, Fishers, and Daniel Herndon, an Indianapolis marketing executive who’s coordinating the project, will spend up to 10 nights underneath a digital billboard along the west side of I-65, south of Southport Road. The billboard will show information about the fundraiser so people can go online to donate and learn more about the charity.
The money will help pay for new mentoring programs at Fishers Junior High and Noblesville High School that are scheduled to begin in January.
People will be able to donate and watch the campout at forkout.org, a Web site created by Herndon’s company, Redwall LIVE.
You can watch them live, as they freeze their asses off by clicking here.
Let’s show Darren Heil and Daniel Herndon that Fort Wayne feels their pain. Send them just $1 at this link.
I’ll start with the first dollar right now.

Considering where they live, very influential districts with a good amount of money to back their districts, local and elsewhere, it says tons as to the priority of education in their district. And they want more! Remember, this is the same district, at least in Fishers where SACS superintendent Brian Smith took position. An influential school district wanting more by a means incredible . . . and what do other less funded school districts residents do? Complain.
I am adding the second dollar.
