It’s an a-typical move by the democratic party, play the race card when things are not going your way. Here’s what Reid had to say about those that oppose socializing our healthcare system.
“You think you’ve heard these same excuses before, you’re right. When this country belatedly recognized the wrongs of slavery, there were those who dug in their heels and said, slow down, it’s too early. Let’s wait. Things aren’t bad enough. When women spoke up for the right to speak up, they wanted to vote, some insisted slow down, there will be a better day to do that. The day isn’t quite right. When this body was on the verge of guaranteeing equal civil rights to everyone, regardless of the color of their skin, some senators resorted to the same filibuster threats that we hear today.”
Reid is not only an idiot, he’s ignorant. It was democrat Senator Strom Thurmond who attempted to filibuster the Civil Rights Act of 1957, and failed. And it was the Republicans who led the charge against slavery.

Problem with Mr Reid’s assertion about senators fillibustering Civil Rights legislation is that those senators – Thurman and Byrd were democrats. (one later switched parties years later)
Never let the facts get in the way of a good whitewash……..
Reid just wants to admonish ONE type of slavery by touting ANOTHER…that’s all.
(smoke and mirrors, baby..watch BOTH of their hands)
Don’t have to have PHYSICAL shackles on one’s wrists or ankles to be a slave these days if people like HIM get their way.
