Merry Christmas Grandma, you just got steamrolled by the democrats.
Over the weekend, Democrats cut $43 billion from home health-care services. Why you ask? To pay for all those people waiting for Obama to pull money out of his ass stash to pay for their healthcare, ‘cept he’s robbing Peter Grandma to pay Paul the uninsured.
From the New York Times.
By a vote of 53 to 41, the Senate on Saturday rejected a Republican effort to block cutbacks in payments to home health agencies that provide nursing care and therapy to homebound Medicare beneficiaries.
Republicans voted against the cuts, saying they would hurt some of the nation’s most vulnerable citizens. Most Democrats supported the cutbacks, saying they would eliminate waste and inefficiency in home care.
The Democrats’ health care bill would reduce projected Medicare spending on home care by $43 billion, or 13 percent, over the next 10 years. The savings would help offset the cost of subsidizing coverage for the uninsured. …
Mr. Baucus, a principal author of the health care bill, noted that his mother was receiving home health care and said he would not do anything to hurt beneficiaries.
“We are reducing overpayments,” Mr. Baucus said. “We are rooting out fraud. We are getting the waste out. The savings go back in Medicare and extend the solvency of the trust fund.”
Baucus is feeding you a crap sandwich if you believe him. The fact is, it will cut funding from Medicaid, (not Medicare) which is used to provide services to the homebound. As for “reducing overpayments,” that’s just a fancy way the democrats have of saying “rationing,” and it will force more providers out of the market, thereby reducing the available services to seniors. The Medicaid system already sucks, so why not force more providers out of the system? But hey, that’s okay. They’ll be providing end-of-life counseling services.
Ironically, of the four Democratic senators that joined 37 Republicans in voting to block the home health cuts, Evan Bayh was one of them as he works to save his ass in the upcoming senatorial race.
So what does all of this mean for Indiana? The governor’s office estimates it will increase Indiana’s spending for the Medicaid by an estimated $2.3 billion over the next 10 years.
Hope-n-change, it’s a good thing, no?
