I received this from Connie Kovas Moreno earlier.

In yesterday’s News Sentinel there was a small announcement stating the following:

Senator Evan Bayh will be in Fort Wayne Saturday, October 24th where he will be hosted at the 3rd District “Democrat Rally 2009″ by the Plumbers and Steamfitters Local 166 at 2930 Ludwig Road. Doors open at 5 PM, remarks begin at 6:30 PM, and appetizers and drinks will be served at 5:30 PM.

EXCUSE ME, but isn’t this the same cowardly senator who refused to hold any public town hall meetings during the congressional August recess? The same senator whose voice mailbox was always filled so that I could never leave a message when I called his Washington office? The same senator who responds to my letters by first thanking me for contacting him regarding abortion and health care reform, then finishing with a polished form-letter so artfully constructed that only a clairvoyant could interpret it’s true intent?

I am insulted that this public servant who has so recklessly refused to even consider the peoples’ wishes would have the nerve to sneak into Fort Wayne on a Saturday night to spend time with his partisan cronies, and I will be SILENT NO MORE!

I invite you to join me and other Hoosier Patriots in a protest demonstration Saturday night, October 24th. We will gather at the Home Depot (Lima Road) in the northeast corner of the parking lot at 4:50 PM. Tell your friends, bring your children. Dress in your finest patriotic apparel (PROUD HOOSIER PATRIOTS t-shirts are appropriate!). Carry a flag or a sign that lets Senator Bayh know that we are watching his every move. This may well be our only chance to confront the man before the crucial votes and our only opportunity to give face to the thousands of letters and phone calls he has received from us.

Sincerely,
Connie Kovas Moreno
Hoosier Patriot

I wish I had seen this sooner..I would have been there. I heard on the news there were some protestors at the event. Missed my 15 seconds of fame.

  2. Dan Spalding says:

So this woman was insulted by the fact Bayh was in town and she didn’t get a chance for some face time with the Senator?
I don’t blame Bayh for not hosting a public session in August since the tone of such meetings was often over the top and lacking in any real chance for dialogue. Lawmakers should be accessible, but no lawmaker should have to expose themselves to some of the stunts I saw this summer.
I can’t remember the last time Lugar or Bayh held a town hall in my neck of the woods. Would Connie really have traveled to Indy for such a meeting?
Or would she have expected one in her neighborhood?
Connie’s entire premiss is pretty thin.

  3. Mark W. says:

    Mr. Spalding,

How do you explain the peaceful and productive town hall meeting that Congressman Souder held here in Fort Wayne? The fact remains, Bayh has been ignoring us. He doesn’t care and can only make a definitive decision when he sees the wind is blowing in a direction that will help him.

I was at the event yesterday. We had people drive from as far away as Indianapolis to express their frustration with Bayh.

Bayh won’t even address the $2.1 million that his wife Susan earned from public health-care companies from 2006 to 2008 other than to say it’s “no conflict of interest,” and he still hasn’t taken a stand on healthcare. The reason is obvious, he knows it will hurt the family bank account.

It’s time to say goodbye to Bayh. I’m voting for Marlin Stutzman.

  4. Dan Spalding says:

Souder’s meeting was essentially a rally against health care. And it was well-controlled to eliminate any chance for some August-style discourse.
Marlin Stutzman doesn’t stand a chance.

  5. Outsider says:

I would vote for my dog before I voted for Bayh again. I too have emailed Bayh about health care. The last email was to get a promise from him that he would at least READ the bill before he voted for it. I got back the same email reply from him that I got when I emailed my concerns about the health care bill rumors I was hearing about.

At least I KNOW my dog listens to what I say.

  6. tim zank says:

Evan Bayh is extremely careful, he makes few mistakes, and he never appears where it isn’t safe. I’ve rec’d the same replys from his office as you guys have. He’s a master at staying out of the fray and popping up when it’s expedient. It’s almost uncanny, cuz he has no real opinions of his own, he’s just a serial “joiner-inner” or “bandwagon jumper” if you will. The kind of guy that “sidles” up next to anyway on the winning side of an issue for a photo op.

Oh, and he’s got great hair too!!

  7. john b. kalb says:

Dan Spalding- I would agree with your comment about Bayh vs. Stutsman except for the very poor showing that ANY Democrat running in 2010 is going to get because of the Obama total failure with the American votes – and especially if Bayh revisits his presently stated position on “Cap & Trade” and the really wild parts of the health bills being floated in Washington (read, “Government-owned & run health insurance”, financing via higher taxes ON EVERYONE – including medical device manufacturers, elimination of the Medicare Advantage option, and monitary penalties on those that do not purchase health insurance & those that own “Cadillac” health plans).

  8. timraiders says:

I’ve received the same “form letters” from Bayh. I love how he describes himself and his past as fiscally responsible but has to use “when he was the governor of indiana. Obviously he can’t claim to be fiscally responsible now.

  9. John Henry says:

    ABB! (Anybody But Bayh!)

  10. Dan Spalding says:

    EBCBB

    Evan Bayh Can’t Be Beat

The only person who could give Bayh a run is the Governor and he has his eyes focused elsewhere.

Hey Dan Spalding, it’s a good thing that you are typing these responses instead of saying them.

  12. Darrell says:

I was really surprised when I saw the first footage of people yelling at legislators at town hall meetings. Traditionally, only conservatives receive that kind of treatment. Big government types often even shout down conservatives before they have a chance to speak at all. Therefore, I find it ironic that Mr Spalding should have such distaste for this technique. At least the folks who share my point of view bothered to ask their legislators questions and held off on the yelling until their guests refused to answer.

  13. Outsider says:

Evan Bayh is MY employee. I can’t imagine telling my boss I wasn’t going to meet with him when he was giving me an appraisal.

I’m tired of being talked to as if I’m stupid both by Bayh & Lugar.

  14. ss says:

  15. Dan says:

Maybe those weren’t morel mushrooms you ate the other night.

  16. Outsider says:

It amazes me that every time a lib has no intelligent response for comments, they start name calling, it can be counted on.

  17. ss says:
