graham henryThis really made my day. Tracy Warner has finally had enough of the Henry administration and their lack of transparency. No, let me rephrase that. He’s had it with the bullshit coming from the 9th floor.

Today, access to city records is strictly limited; the administration is less than forthcoming about far too many aspects of government; and even information that is clearly a matter of public record can be difficult to see.

On Sept. 7, for example, The Journal Gazette – whose reporters are no longer permitted to look through the city’s claims – asked for billing records showing how much money has been paid to lawyers representing the city in the case involving Indiana Michigan Power’s lease of City Light. This is clearly a matter of public interest, and residents of Fort Wayne have every right to see how many of their tax dollars they are paying to which lawyers.

Two days later, the city said it would comply.

Five weeks later, the newspaper is still waiting for those records. Citizens still don’t know how much they are paying the lawyers to wage a debatable fight that has yet to even go to court.

Warner and the Journal Gazette were at one time the primary cheerleaders of the Henry camp. Now it seems Warner is yet another jilted media girlfriend. There’s no doubt that Henry’s “Earth First” cover-up gave impetus to Warner’s rage.

Go read the entire article and then come back and leave your comments.

What a nice surprise on a chilly fall morning. I think from now on I’ll refer to him as “one-term Tommy.”

Tracy stood behind Tom on the Calhoun tear up. Thought it was an important waste of money and resources that would help the city immensely. He bought the city lies then. Apparently, when it is closer to home Tracy finally sees the light. Too bad he wasn’t open enough to save a million plus interest on Calhoun.

Finally, the established media discovers what the “other” media and regular citizens have known for months. The Henry administration is not an administration at all, it’s a ruling junta that cares only about achieving their agenda and the great unwashed citizenry be damned for daring question it’s mission. Now that Tracy has found the turd in the punchbowl, the Henry Junta has one less enabler. However, when Tracy calls for Tim Pape’s resignation from the Ultimate Universal Maximum Supreme Imperial City council, then I’ll buy him a drink. In the meantime, the J-G is still suspect.

    Doug,

I damn near spit coffee everywhere when I read the “turd in the punchbowl” comment. In my 51 years, that’s the first I heard that phrase.

    LOL!
Doug must know people from the EAST COAST…that’s where I heard it (a lot)…in Philly & NJ (and don’t ask “which exit?”)

    ;)

Welcome to the real world, Tracy. The average citizen has been shut out for a long time, and now you know how we feel. I’m trying real hard to cry tears of sympathy for you, but considering your newspaper often used their former insider status to dupe the people, I really don’t think I’ll be needing a tissue after all.

  6. Charles Langley says:

Call me old fashioned, but the mayor is “checked and balanced” by the council. I want the City Council to start acting like a legislative body and produce an agenda that moves this city forward. I don’t care who leads it, Dems or Reps, but they all seem to sit back and wait and see what comes down the pike from the administration. Stand up and lead, they have more power yet never seem to realize it!

  7. Douglas B says:

Charles, I’m with you. There is plenty of room for improvement on the Imperial Fort Wayne City Council. I would elaborate, but I don’t have anything snappy or quotable to say right now. I’ll work on it…

  8. John Henry says:

Not so fast, Tracy is just throwing his weight around to get what he wants. He could care less about transparency, he cares more about his access. This will all be fixed I predict with a private meeting with Mayor Tom. The papers are aligned with the administration and will not break with them but to get with they want. Investigative reporting in Fort Wayne is dead (except for an occasional article in the NS).

… an of course often in this blog
