This proves tossing money at a school district is not the answer.

After hours of cry baby antics by house democrats, the Indiana House voted 62-37 today for a new two-year two-year $27.8 billion budget which includes about $1 billion in federal stimulus dollars. The budget gives schools an overall increase of 1.1 percent in 2010 and 0.3 percent in 2011.
It now goes to the Republican-controlled Senate where undoubtedly it will pass.
One of the biggest cry babies was house Representative Vernon Smith, D-Gary who complained the new budget will cost Gary, Indiana’s school system $12 million. He never mentioned the fact that Gary’s school system spends $11,535 per student, while the statewide average is only $6995 per student.
All 48 Republicans voted yes, and they were joined by 12 Democrats.

And with all that money they spend, how do Gary students compare with the rest of Indiana in test scores?
you tell me gary is spending all that money on the kids instead of it going into vernon smith’s mansion remodeling and the pockets of his bros in the school corp. i like a good fairy tale before i go to bed.
