  1. These numbers have been pretty consistent over the years. The same thing goes true in my field (Talk Radio). The truth of the matter is that liberals don’t watch TV nor listen to the radio around their political ideology.

What’s worse, is the have done a lot of studies showing how even the liberals that do watch tv or listen to talk radio are significantly less likely to purchase products advertised during those shows.

In TV/Radio it is all about Ratings & Revenue – and liberal television/radio just doesn’t produce.

So what’s the way for liberals to make sure their ideology is covered on the airwaves even though it doesn’t produce? The Fairness Doctrine – which is a bunch of crap. Let the free market decide this stuff, not mandates from the Federal Government.

(P.S. It should be stated that I am moderate and could be deemed liberal on many issues. I was not using the term liberal above in any sort of derogatory fashion – but rather just a descriptive term for a group of like minded political ideology).

I think it is valuable to point out that the media is bias (both conservative and liberal agents) and many liberals are aware of this fact so seek their information in other ways. Check out indybay, commondreams or moveon….but fox, msnbc, etc? no thanks, i’d rather get truth & in all honesty, theres more of it on college bathroom stall walls then on those stations. Peace & Blesses to all.

In reality, most of the “mainstream media” is blatantly biased in one direction or another.

I would only accept a Fairness Doctrine in broadcast media, not print. A print-media outlet physically owns their resources, and can do whatever they want with them. The airwaves are a “shared resource” physically owned by nobody and controlled by government mandate and thus should represent all viewpoints (or at the very least, provide equal access to all viewpoints).

Or, alternatively, do away with the FCC entirely and let the airwaves be “wild”…. that would be some definition of “fun” :-)
