Fort Wayne Politics reported that White Lodging is backing out of a planned 1,000 room Marriott in Austin, TX. Sounds like Fort Wayne will be next.

Graham Richards’ legacy:

A failed inner-city housing development, a $2 million tax break to a McDonald’s restaurant, the failed Public Safety Academy of Northeast Indiana, the failure in the development of The Harrison condo project, and screwing the city for $300,000 for his consulting gig.

What am I forgetting?

I suppose you could add the Kitty Hawk failure…

I suppose you could add the High Performance Government Network fiasco also – another one we will be paying for for years in the future – How many city employee hours per year are involved in this Mickey Mouse, unmeasured (really UNmeasurable) waste of time??? Per all the rhetoric about how HPGN is saving Fort Wayne more money than it’s cost to us, the ineffectiveness of these employees in doing their assigned job because of the time spent in this training is never included . Also, members of the administration tell us that HPGN “facilitates” the actions of city departments. Per a dictionary, “facilitate” means “to make easier”. Does “easier” mean “less costly” ? Please tell us the answer in this case in point.

He’s now a contractor for Verizon as a thankyou for doing their bidding.
