TOLEDO, OHIO — Toledo police are gearing up for possible “Civil unrest” during and after
tomorrow’stoday’s elections.In an internal memo (PDF) obtained exclusively by NBC 24 News, officers are ordered to “Have their riot equipment with them Tuesday and Wednesday”. Police chief Mike Navarre confirms, officers will have gear similar to the equipment they used during the 2005 race riots. “They have been asked to have their helmets and their gas masks available tomorrow and Wednesday.”, Navarre says, “That’s the equipment they would not normally carry with them on a normal day”.
Navarre also says, officers will not be stationed at individual polling stations. But the memo says otherwise. It reads, “On Tuesday, units shall be directed to patrol the polling locations”.
I wonder if Bob G. and Phil Marx have bought extra ammo?

Funny that you mention this….I’ve been “getting ready” for weeks.
(and that’s ONLY because I KNOW how people down here think…and act ALL too well)
In Houston (or was it Dallas?) the NATIONAL GUARD was called out to patrol the streets to “assist” the police.
Could sure use some down HERE.
Of course, the FWPD admins (and the city PR department) would have you “believe” that EVERY shift of the SOUTH side of the city is FULLY staffed…24/7/365
Fairy tale time, anyone?
Not so, my friends.
-You’ve got approx. 440 officers in the FWPD, and roughly 10% are office or command staff.
Don’t count THEM.
-Place the remaining 400 officers against the minority population (about 27K), then SUBTRACT 70% OF that population (decent people of any ethnicity are not included)
-That remaining 30% of THAT 27K is around 8100 people that are largely responsible for MOST of the crime in this city.
Now convince me that “if” those 8100 people (most, no doubt carrying illegal weapons) decide to “celebrate” (read riot), those 440 officers are more than capable of STOPPING them.
That’s ONE officer for EVERY 20.25 people…and we’re not talking about ANY “law-abiding” citizens, are we?

“Them’s suck-ass odds”, no matter HOW you shake it, not to take anything away from ANY officer out there.
You’re just outnumbered AND outgunned.
That’s NEVER the preferred way to police ANY part of ANY population in ANY city…remember the North Hollywood shootout back in 1997? Only took TWO gunmen with the right weapons to fend off a LOT more officers.
Yeah…we’re ready as we can be.
