Get over it! It’s a great name. You obviously have never heard of the Mud Hens, Biscuits, Lugnuts, Iron Pigs, Muckdogs, and Loons. Go TinCaps!!

  5. karen says:

Tin caps is a lousy name, period. people should not support this club until a new contract goes to a local agency. I am ashamed to even admit we have a baseball club here.

  6. Stan Schenher says:

Oh just a little update on the TinCaps. Did you see where the Tincaps won an award for the best new name and logo for 2009. I told you it was a great name!

  7. Fort Wayne Pot Heads. Hilarious.

Tin Caps represent Government-Sponsored Baseball. Serfs love this game!

Speaking of Parkview Field, why does a hospital need to advertise its services so much?

  8. johnbkalb says:

Dean – Because this group (unlike the others in our area) pays very little in taxes! They then charge "the-going-rate outherwise known as "what-the-traffic-will-bear")- always paid through a 3rd party payer- for services – an amount which greatly erxceeds the costs, including overhead, of these services. parkview, we are told by employees, pays them less than the others in our area for the same jobs. So their board of directors are left with all kinds of excess cash which they have to spend somehow – even more than they have been expending for all the new buildings, moving from one place to another, expensive new equipment ( some unneccessarily duplicating even their own!) et al.
Basically it's "screw-our-non-management employees, our patients and their insurers, AND the taxpayers in the areas we are supposed to serve! Those of us that lived in Fort Wayne back when Methodist Hospital (which was very close to where parkview Field is today) remember that before the move to Randallia Ave., fund raising was very active to enable the construction of that building. You haven't seen any of that for their recent expansions, have you?

  9. johnbkalb says:

And Dean: people ask, "Why has health care become so expensive over the last 30 years?" Part of the answer is right here – NO PRICE COMPETITION results in out-of-control prices by all the providers serving the area – and we are there NOW!!!
