Wow…
WASHINGTON (AP) – Deep-seated racial misgivings could cost Barack Obama the White House if the election is close, according to an AP-Yahoo News poll that found one-third of white Democrats harbor negative views toward blacks—many calling them “lazy,” “violent” or responsible for their own troubles.
The poll, conducted with Stanford University, suggests that the percentage of voters who may turn away from Obama because of his race could easily be larger than the final difference between the candidates in 2004—about 2.5 percentage points.

More than a third of all white Democrats and independents—voters Obama can’t win the White House without—agreed with at least one negative adjective about blacks, according to the survey, and they are significantly less likely to vote for Obama than those who don’t have such views.
And now the caveat before you spout off..
Lots of Republicans harbor prejudices, too, but the survey found they weren’t voting against Obama because of his race. Most Republicans wouldn’t vote for any Democrat for president—white, black or brown.
So there..

“And now the caveat before you spout off..”
What you said, keep up the good work!
I just wonder how they did the survey. Most people are very closed lipped about such subject. I had friends for years before I ever knew what their TRUE views where.
I can not believe someone would just tell an unknown person on the phone such beliefs. I also don’t think people would in a focus group. Maybe someone carried out a secret voting system but then I wonder about the sampling.
It makes for interesting reading and then to see if it plays out.
There is conscious racism and unconscious racism. Unconscious racism is where a person doesn’t think of themselves as racist but might do things like not give a resume a fair chance because it was filled out by someone named Hong or Diaz. There is a way to check for unconscious racism, and that is to observe their behavior towards different races.
