Brady left Sunday’s game against Kansas City after he was hit by Chiefs safety Bernard Pollard. Brady was not available for comment, but reports circulated around the league that he had torn his anterior cruciate ligament.

“We feel badly for Tom about the injury,” Belichick said while not confirming the exact injury . “You hate to see anyone go down. No one has worked harder or done more for this team than Tom has.”

I’ll agree with Bill Belicheaters statement as I don’t like seeing any player get injured, but how sweet is this?

pollardBrady was crushed by Bernard Karmell Pollard, a South Side High School grad who lettered in football, basketball and track & field. As a senior in football he was chosen as the News-Sentinel Area Player of the Year, and was a first team All-State honoree. Pollard’s nickname is “The Bone Crusher”.

From Wiki:

Bernard was selected in the second round, 54th overall of the 2006 NFL Draft. Bernard played the majority of his rookie season on special teams and ended the year with 10 tackles, 1 pass break-up, 1 forced fumble and 3 blocked punts, one against Arizona, one against San Diego, and one against Jacksonville (recovered in the end zone for a touchdown). Pollard was a starter in the 2007 NFL season.

Pollard’s blocked punt against the Jacksonville Jaguars and subsequent touchdown helped propel the Kansas City Chiefs to a 35-30 win and an eventual playoff berth.

He also blocked a punt against the Denver Broncos, in week ten of the 2007 season, that went out of the end zone for a safety. The Chiefs eventually lost, 11 to 27.

On September 7, 2008, Pollard was involved in a play that ended with New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady being taken off the field with a knee injury and not returning for the rest of the game. It was later revealed that Pollard’s hit on Brady has ended the quarterback’s season. Pollard later apologized for the hit, saying, “It was really an accident, I can’t change what happened. I can’t do anything but pray for him and hope he has a speedy recovery.”

If it had to happen, no better than a Fort Wayne native.

I am not sure why you think that taking out a top-rated pro qb is the way to becoming a star in the NFL. Whether you like Tom Brady or the Patriots is not the issue here. Brady became a star based upon his play. Injuring other players does not require talent.

Bernard Pollard may or may not become a star in the NFL. When I see him selected to the All-Star team several times, I will become a believer. Until then, he just might want to stay on his best behavior. Teammates of star Quarterbacks do not like their money man put down.

I never said that taking out a top-rated pro qb is the way to becoming
    a star in the NFL.

    Gadfly,
You are obviously not a football fan or you would realize that NFL players are not called ‘All-Stars’ rather ‘All-Pro’. The hit delivered by Pollard was legal and it was reviewed by the NFL because Billcheat and his crew are a bunch of cry babies. It was a legal hit and Brady had extended himself throwing a long ball. He left himself open for this. Furthermore, Pollard had a 230 man on top of him, he dragged his blocker, reached for Brady and got his extended leg. That’s was that. Next time before you comment about the game of football maybe you should learn something about the game of football and before you go condemning a player you should know something about the player. Mr. Pollard is known as a gentle giant by his team mates. He is a quiet man off the field but on the filed HE DOES HIS JOB. That’s exactly what he did on Sunday. If he would have had the chance to make the tackle and didn’t he would have been in trouble with his coaches the next day when the play was reviewed. So just do research the next time you open your big Gad or should I say FLY!!!!!!!!
