James,
Am I selfish because I refuse to donate to Obama's campaign? You can donate or refuse to donate to any campaign for any reason or no reason at all.

"Anti-gay regime"? Even Dick Cheney has come out in favor of allowing gay marriage. Aside from marriage and the military, there are no current examples of federal oppression against gays and lesbians. They have been prohibited from marrying and serving in the military by every Republican and Democratic administration for as long as this has been an issue. Do you propose to end this anti-gay regime and replace it with an anti-gay regime more to your liking?

In reply to Robert Enders statement, No we don't all have to vote alike, but to not donate to Obama's campaign ONLY because he didn't come out and say that openly supports gay marriage is pretty selfish. Doesn't Mr. Colichman realize this election is not only about gay marriage, and his selfish wants. It's about ending the anti-gay regime that has openly oppressed the GLBT community for the past 8 years. This election is not about him. Its about an entire world.

Actually this is becoming a huge controversy across the glbt new and old media spectrums....

One only has to look at the boycott started by Towleroad over Manhunt's cofounder's donation to McCain which forced him off the board within days and caused the company serious harm. The other thing I cant stand, actually it made me puke in my mouth a little bit, when the LGBT Blog for OBAMA was announced on BILERICO with what seemed like half of its staff being contributors. So much for any balance of opinion on that forum.

Not to forget to mention that one of our local GLBT non for profits is hosting a political event and concert at the end of September strictly for the local Democratic candidates in the area. I am still trying to figure out how to go about filing a complaint for that one without getting my head torn completely off by other leaders in the local gay community.

My personal opinion: OBAMA is unqualified in to many ways to count for the Office of President or Vice President and we can not trust him in any way shape or form. But I, and I know you will disagree with me on this one Dan, believe McCain is also unqualified imho to serve in that capacity either, but at least I can trust McCain in certain areas like Commander In Chief and the fact that I know he wouldnt screw the country up that much more worse than it already is. And while I am supporting Bob Barr of Georgia for several different reasons, not just because of being a Libertarian myself; if I was only able to choose the lesser of two evils - the choice would be clear, it would have to be McCain.

Obama has no substance, or vision, or ability to speak unless it is put in front of him on a teleprompter. That right there should tell the people something but they are just to busy riding the emotional roller coaster. Id rather vote for ex Marine Rev. Dr. Jeremiah Wright than vote for Obama at least I know where he stands on the issues.

I don't know that I want to agree with anyone who promises to "flamingly" endorse Obama (or "flamingly" do anything else). Robert brings up an excellent point in regard to one person's vote affecting another just because of their sexual orientation. Personally, I don't lean either way, politically speaking, because of my own sexual preference - and until Keanu Reeves runs for president, I won't.

There is as about as much unity among gay voters as there is among straight voters. For one gay man to insist that all gay men vote the way he does because they have the same orientation would be like if I told Dan that he should vote the way I do because we're both straight.
