Not hardly, but serving them will be for free, (kind of).

The Fort Wayne Redevelopment Commission is giving Hardball Capital a liquor license for free. From around the What’s Going Downtown Blog.

frier beer

As noted by Councilmember Mitch Harper on Fort Wayne Observed, the Fort Wayne Redevelopment Commission approved a resolution that would give the City of Fort Wayne control of a three-way liquor license for the sum of $1000.

The City is allowed to own an alcoholic beverage permit outside of the quota restrictions that normally control their issuance. The City will own the actual permit while Hardball Capital will manage the flow of libations at Harrison Square.

Considering that Hardball Capital just received a three-way liquor license essentially for free, we would only humbly ask that it be put to good use beyond the given and mundane Bud/Coors/Miller set so regularly seen at sporting events.

When will this crap end? Personally, I don’t care what kind of beer they serve. What I do mind is that the citizens of Allen County continued to get “tapped” for Hardball Capital’s success. What are liquor licenses going for now? $50,000 – 70,000?

Then again, I must admit I love all of these abatements, subsidies and freebies. It will make knocking Tom Henry Graham Richard out of office all that much easier come 2012.

Is the beer still going to be $5.00 or more for a 12oz. plastic cup? Where is the justice? Oh, it will be at least $5.00 for a cup to pay the high salaries of all the “workers” at the ballpark.

Next is an exception to the smoking ordinance for the restaurants in Harrison Square meaning the indoor restaurants/bars. Smoking will be allowed for 21 and over OR during certain evening hours only.

Unless there is going to be a countywide smoking ban ordinance. I am sure those “in power” already have one or the other in the works. Whatever they want they get and force it down our throats or up our …..

Ok, so who wants to make up some bumper stickers that read:
“BUY A BEER at HARRISON SQ – PAY A HOTDOG VENDOR FOR AN HOUR”?

Actually if there happens to be an available liquor license at the state for the county you are applying in, the cost is $1500. Otherwise, if you purchase one from an individual or business, then they get costly and usually go with a business for obvious reasons.
