This is not national paranoia – it is national need to protect our children without regard to offending or pissing off a convicted sex offender or those that believe they are entitled to a second chance.

I believe the laws should be tighter and you can visit my site to see what I think, but on this matter you are wrong.

We are not talking about discriminating against specific groups of people, we are talking about controlling the rights of a specific group of convicts that are known to be harmful and dangerous to our children.

If restricting the rights of a few convicts to protect the masses then so be it!

We do have somewhere else to keep them …our prisons, but to use them we need to make punishment for sex crimes as life in prison.

I understand your concern for your child, but what did you do before these laws and national data banks suddenly appeared? What are the odds that your child would be affected?

I have not seen national (or local for that matter) statistics on the frequency of sex crimes by convicted sex offenders. I suspect that it happens relatively infrequently, although your local cable news and tree-killer news sources will report each incident with bold headlines as if it happens every 10 minutes.

Our national paranoia on this subject is much the same as the daycare scandals of 25 years ago when dogooders coaxed false testimony from preschoolers about sexual abuse at the hands of the daycare center staffs. No one in authority has ever apologized to the falsely-accused victims.

When we discriminate against specific groups of people, the law of unintended consequences kicks in and we all suffer by having our freedoms restricted.

We’re a kinder, gentler world there days…and those things are bad for our psyche.

Perhaps we need “leper colonies” or “sanitariums” or “internment camps” to permanently isolate and house these never forgiven, never rehabilitated criminals. With encouragement from and an accumulation of new laws by liberal politicians, we are headed toward making sex offenders into wards of the state.

Damn shame…I hate those beggars that show up for candy dressed in STREET clothes saying “trick or treat”.

I wanted the sign to keep THOSE “kids” away only. I don’t mind my wife and I handing out freebie candy to CHILDREN dressed appropriately for the venue.
