I’m not privy to any of the details surrounding the loans to the Matt Kelty which he in turn loaned to his campaign. It will be interesting to see what the election board’s ruling is on this. Clearly Matt was ill-advised by the attorney’s that looked over the filings.
While I suspect that the election board will admonish Matt, this is by no means a felonious act.
Of course the anti-Kelty crowd (there is really no pro-Henry crowd) is having a hay day over this. So, make hay while the sun’s shining boys, it won’t last forever.

This has got to be a move from the Peters’ camp, have no doubt. Henry’s to far removed from what is going on. I’ve watched this long enough and I need to speak out. Matt is a great guy and would never had filed these in the fashion they were filed if he thought it was wrong, incorrect, illegal whatever you call it.
You Peters sore losers need to move on and get behind Mr. Kelty. Do you really want another four years of a democrat running this town???
I’m going to guess that the Peters people think this will give them a chance to get Matt kicked off the ballot and Peters placed on the ballot.
Shameful. Peters makes me sick.
I find that (a move from the Peters camp) highly unlikely. Don’t blame anybody else for what appears to be a really (being kind here) stupid mistake on Keltys’ part. I’m sure he’s a great guy, but isn’t campaign finance regs and rules kind of like the first thing you make sure is on the up and up? cuz ya know EVERYONE is gonna check??????
Apparently the media does not know the difference between an amendment (change) and an addendum (additional clarifying information).
It’s an important distinction they conveniently overlook because it does not support their position. Didn’t both papers endorse the other candidate?
The lack of Party support for their nominee is an artifact of a lack of leadership and Party discipline. They appear prepared to kill the husband to marry the boyfriend. And they wonder why they have a hard time winning, because they don’t know how to lose.
Near as I can figure, none of this changes a single vote. In the end, isn’t that what wins elections, votes?
This is very sad to see dissention within the party. I am sorry, but folks, the people have spoken and Kelty won the vote. My next question is, isn’t it the job of the party chair to now come on full board in support of the elected candidate and get him into office? I believe this to be an honest mistake given by legal counsel and there was no intentional wrongdoing. Intentional being the keyword here. The man made a mistake and made it right, move on and get the candidate of the party elected!
Seemed Steve Shine was taking a “hands-off” stance last night on the news with his response, when I would have “thought” he’d be supportive of his party’s candidate.
(sniffing fot that sour grapes smell)
ANd I don’t believe that Kelty is guilty of any wrongdoing…hopefully, he’ll be able to rub some noses in it soon enough.
Just wish I could loan myself some money..oh wait, I have to HAVE money in order to LOAN it…(damn)!
B.G.
This is for sure a Steve Shine move to make a last ditch effort to get Nelson Peters back in the race. We have known Matt Kelty for at least 20 years and he would never do anything intentionally wrong. We support Matt 100% and know that he would be great for Ft. Wayne. Why would the Republican party do something like this. They must be desperate! Go Matt!
