I really don’t visit the Fort Wayne African- American Independent Woman’s blog too often anymore.  I usually get a headache trying to find the point, realize that if I say anything at all she is not going to answer my question and then she is going to call me a raced white.  But today I ventured on to her site.

I am trying really hard to figure out this rant.  Apparently Credo was upset because three patrol cars were patroling her neighborhood.  Or as she calls them, the “bully patrol.”  Credo is miffed because she approached the police on patrol and asked them what their business was.  From what I can surmise she was told it was not her business and she is really not happy about this.

I would have commented on her post and asked her why she was so angry because the police are doing their job in her neighborhood.  Past experience tells me I will be deleted or called a raced white, so there is no point in asking her. But quite seriously, if and when I see a police officer in my neighborhood, I realize there may be a problem and therefore I am glad to see the officer in my neighborhood and doing his/her job and I realize it is not my business, I respect the privacy of my neighbors knowing full well if it is something that directly affects me, I will be alerted in a timely manner to keep harm from coming to my family.  I realize if I am out pestering them about what they are doing, I am in fact obstructing justice as I am distracting them from doing the job they are there to do.

Anyone have a different point of view?

A neighbor down the street may very well be calling to have a VIN number verified. Often the police drive through neighborhoods for the sake of driving through neighborhoods. It’s a good crime deterrent. Seeing a squad car isn’t necessarily a sign that something’s wrong.

I drive upwards of a hundred miles a day in my district, patrolling neighborhood after neighborhood for eight and a half hours.

There are incidents that occur in every neck of the woods (where else would they occur?) So observing a police officer driving by your house doesn’t mean they’re out to get you. They’re there to intercede on your behalf…if and when crime comes your way.

And again, I am relieved if I happen to see them patroling my neighborhood. This past summer my daughter babysat for the kids of a county officer who would come to our house on Friday afternoons to pay her for the week. We had a busybody neighbor who would spread rumors throughout the neighborhood that my daughter was busted for shoplifting, etc. So of course I went to the other neighborhood busybody and told her what the officer was doing at our house and then gave her “information” about the children of the other busybody. Sigh.

Point still being, for whatever reason a patrol car is in my neighborhood, its a good thing and if and when it pulls into my driveway and the officer rings my doorbell, then its my business of why.

Forgive me if I am wrong, but wasn’t she complaining not too long ago about the cops neglecting her neighborhood? I don’t think she knows what she wants. Perhaps it was only that the officers skin was just too pale for her liking.

I can only think of one reason why someone would be upset or overly concerned about cops hanging around her neighborhood…… paranoia. I wonder what she is so worried about? Something to hide? One can only imagine. Judging by her posts, rants, and incoherent babblings I don’t think drugs would be out of the question.

Personally it brings me comfort to see these guys out and about doing their job. I agree, unless that officer pulls into my driveway and rings my doorbell, I could care less what they’re doing on my road. You should have some fun with that busybody of yours Lucy. Next time, tell her that the cops were asking you a bunch of questions about her. LOL.

I WISH I could have more police patrol in my neighborhood. My husbands car has been broken into and his laptop stolen, we have had graffiti sprayed on our brand new shed and neighbors have had vandalism too. When we do call police, they wouldn’t even give us the time of day. I realize they do have better things to do than come and see my husbands broken window on his CTS but…it would have made us a little bit more at ease if they would have at least taken down our ADDRESS!

I, too, refuse to visit her blog/website. Why give her the satisfaction that someone READS her dirt?

Whenever I “usually” see a sector car in the area, it’s “usually” because I HAVE CALLED on some idiot with loud music or a loud party (an everyday occurance in sector 45), yet, having been on a “ride-along” with a FWPD officer, I can say that there are times when you just “cruise” (between calls) to scope out the area…nothing wrong with that at all. It’s not as though that hasn’t been done before…it’s just good policing.

And especially in areas known (in Philly anyway) as “The Badlands”, having a REGULAR patrol is not only welcome…it’s a necessity!

I can’t say for Credo’s area, but I would wager it’s not too unlike mine. I,for one welcome any officer that just wants to “coop” for a while to check things out, or catch up on paper work(a large part of any shift)…my driveway is available 24/7 (and I provide hot coffee…Barbeques need a formal invite…lol)!

I’ve seen everything to the K-9 unit, the “batmobile” (black UMC with cage), UC officers, the FEDS, and a tac duo (nice shotgun…got a picture of them) on my street. Hell, I even saw an officer tackle a perp on my lawn at 2:30AM (good job), and then I loaned him my spotlight to check for a tossed handgun around the house.
But then, I haven’t a reason to fear or question the motives of the PD…call it police family mindset.

To those that would like the police to patrol more, I would recommend contacting the quadrant captain. Keep detailed records…times, places, vehicles, tags, etc., and be willing to provide this info. I do so on a monthly basis here. If you can afford it, a neighborhood watch program might do the job.

But be advised…some people don’t take kindly to following the law, and will let you know in no small way. I’ve been threatened several times over the years (and am armed NOW), but I HAVE gotten some problem houses closed, and some real bad people out of the immediate area. Trouble is, more come back in…a vicious cycle.

And not once did my neighborhood association get involved, or even contact me. It was between the FWPD and me (alone). Another “army of one” it seems. No stress…no stress.

ANY officer wants to patrol MY area…you go right ahead…you want citations? I’ll point them out to you…just ask. And I will get pictures if you need them.

    It’s what I do…for everyone’s safety.

Well she has responded to this on her blog and I answered and she responded again. She is angry with me because the whole point of a blog is to express your opinion and she was expressing her opinion. I did not attack her on her own blog and this was not an attack. She believes the police are her very own private servants and that they are to bow down to her. I hope that they were not out there trying to catch a murderer when she was busying cornering them and ordering them to bow down to her and state their business. Can you imagine if a murder had been committed in her neighborhood while they were kissing her feet?

Another case of the universe revolving around a single individual (by their own will no doubt)….how “quaint”.

If she would channel her “anger” to more important matters, she could probably do some GOOD. And don’t any of you say “reparations”…lol!

I totally agree that it isn’t anyones business, I live in a small town and I’m on a first name basis with all the officers and I still would never stick my noise where it doesn’t belong. Maybe she had something to hide herself.
