Four children between ages 2 and 7 were believed to be living alone for two days in a filthy home on Winter Street with no food, no running water and no parents.
Officers arrived at the house, located in the 2900 block, shortly before 9 p.m. Saturday to find the four children, ages 2, 4, 5 and 7, walking out a side door, according to a police report.
“They were wearing little clothing and had bags they were carrying,†the officer wrote. “We approached them and they stated that they had been left alone for the past two days without anyone to care for them and without anything to eat.â€
Inside the house, police discovered a deplorable sight, according to the report. A sticky liquid was on the floors of the basement and the first-floor living area. The kitchen cupboards and refrigerator were bare, and there was no running water, police said.
On a table in the living room, officers found a partly eaten pan of lasagna, which was also spilled on the table and floor, and no eating utensils were found, police said.
Broken glass was scattered on the floor near the spilled lasagna and on the floor near the home’s downstairs bathroom, police said.
“There was so much debris on the floor that the floor could not be seen,†the officer wrote.

[.. Police were able to locate the mother, but she told police that she was not going to return to the home.
“(The mother) at no time asked about the condition or wellbeing of her children. She only stated that they would be better off until she can straighten herself out,†the officer wrote.
The children’s father was also contacted and he told police that he had taken the children some lasagna and had bought them some new coats, but he did not stay at the house or take the children with him, police said.
The father was also arrested on an active warrant for a probation violation, police said.
Officers removed the children from the home and transported them to Child Protective Services, police said. As of Saturday night, no arrests had been made in connection with the condition of the home or the children, according to the police report.
If anyone can locate where these kids are, I’ve got a few hundred bucks I’d throw in for some Christmas presents.

You can count me in on that too AWB – I can’t imagine how scared those little souls must have been and still are. My wish for them is that they are able to stay together through this.
This is a sad and deplorable case.

God Bless these children!
Unbelievable, but I believe it is true; right here in the city of Fort Wayne.
If you know where to give Christmas to these children, please
let us know. We will make it happen. 4kelleys1@comcast.net.
How horrible for those kids. Can we find out where these kids are? Count me in…I would like to do something for them.
You can contact SCAN @ 260-421-5000

AWB …
Thanks Jimmy.. I will call them tomorrow. All those seriously interested – let’s think about a shopping trip and make their Christmas one they won’t forget. I’ll call in the morning and let everyone know what up at that time.
AWB..
Keep in mind that Child Protective Services cannot confirm or deny that the children are in their care, by law. SCAN will confirm that these little ones are the tip of the iceberg.
The guys I work with, we all will be making a donation to SCAN. This will enable this wonderful organization to help many more of the innocents. Given the horrific nature of this you would be correct in assuming people would buy gifts for just these four children. I think by the time Christmas rolls around it would be many thousands of dollars.
It may be more prudent to give to SCAN and help as many as we can.

Thanks so kindly, I will call Scan in the morning.
Love is beautiful and these children need some love.
