Amy Biggs, assistant chief of human relations with the Fort Wayne Fire Department has been appointed as the Chief of the Fort Wayne Fire Department. Not only is she the first Fort Wayne female fire chief, she is also the first openly lesbian fire chief in the state of Indiana’s history.
Bonnie Bleskachek was the nation’s first openly lesbian fire chief, appointed in 2004 in Minneapolis. She stepped down in July of 2006 in the wake of firefighter lawsuits accusing her of harassment and discrimination.

while I am no supporter of special homosexual rights, I don't see what that has to do with her job performance here.
It has nothing to do with that Steve. She's very qualified. However, it is historical for Indiana, and the LGBT community. I think she's only the third in the US to achieve this.

Hmm, You must have been at that fire. If not, you are certainly in no position to call it "avoidable". Besides, Pete Kelly, the willows or lesbians have to do with the qualifications of being Fort Wayne's first female fire chief. Could it be she was appointed for her years of service as a firefighter, fire administration and knowledge and abilities in the fire service? Seems to make sense, or is it not enough conspiracy for this blog.
Lets see, Willows fire.The chief in charge decided that there was not enough experienced personnel at the scene to make a rescue attempt so then it was decided to dispatch the R-1 from downtown to affect an rescue .So why didn't the chief go in and get the girls himself if experience was lacking.Lame thinking.they all get paid to do the job.And how long was it before the unit from One's was dispatched.And how long did it take them to get there.That crew was put in danger by someones bad decision,
Fire doubles in size 9 times a minute, things were gong very bad for the girls while personnel outside waited for help.,So while I was not there you do not have to be to know the mistakes made.The girls inside died waiting for the crew from ones to get there.That crew did a great and heroic job getting them out while there lives was put in jeopardy.Kelly would not release the dispatch tape to the media because it would show the times it would take for the girls to be rescued in my opinion.Cover up in every way in my eyes.Henry by state code gets the top three positions as political appointments.You need someone on your team in those positions,It also results in getting some real political hags running things.There is a saying in the fire department to never kick a horse turd because it might be your next chief,from the days of horses in the engine house.
And the timing of the promotion is interesting because of the D's coming to town this weekend.It has been reported that the definition of marriage between a man and a women for the D's would be tossed over board,They are that far left.It is hard to believe ,but you have to.And today ,somehow ,Obama stepped on the law and said some illegals would receive work cards.Without congress approval.
Qulifications.None The mayor can pick anyone from the fire department he wants.I belive state code only says they must have five years on.Politics rule.

Because he's a politician and gaining votes and pr is what he needs to rely on to keep his current title.

Tammy, not everyone's. It is a "virtue" of post-modernity only if it is "alternative." But not so alternative as to hurt kids or animals. I mean I am hopelessly hetero (I know, you did not ask, please <del datetime="2012-06-19T03:03:49+00:00">bare</del> bear(!) with me) and what does it get me in the job market? Nada.
Can It really be that so few can see that character and morality are the basis for strong leadership. Not only that but what about a standard have we let a Godly standard go to the wayside for what's popular or just reasonable. How can you stand on principle when we make it up as we go. The lack of these things are what bring down a country.
